The Novotel features, aside from its award winning reception, a stunning heated pool and sauna area. Nice and big and completely indoors, it won’t disappoint the kids. In the city, close to a number of restaurants, cafes, ANU, bus terminals, and Canberra Centre. Next to a tourist centre and a newsagent that has a small Internet cafe. Provides a cable TV. Employees are friendly. Secure lifts (you need to swipe your key card to use them). Inadequate light in a room. Internet and laundry services are expensive. Occasionally overlook what should be replaced in a room (in my case, it took them two days to recognise that a tissue box was empty in my room). Fruits for breakfast are not fresh. Novotel is located close to the heart of the city. It is close to restaurants, cafes, a shopping centre, supermarkets, newsagent, an Internet cafe (The one and only one in the city. If you open Yellow Pages, you will understand what I mean.), and a tourist centre (which is right underneath Novotel). However, a launderette shop is nowhere to be found. The closest one, which opens every day, is in Dickson where it takes about 25 minutes from the bus terminal #9. Breakfast prepared by Novotel is fine except fruits, which seems to be cut for a while before they put on tables. They hardly change the breakfast menu thereby you may be bored if you stay longer than a week.
Restaurant Tip : If you want to have Asian food, do not bother go to Happy's Chinese restaurant or the Korean restaurant next to it. Instead, I recommend you to have it at a Korean restaurant at the Melbourne building (just walk straight from Novotel and cross the road). Although side dishes are not that good, their main dishes are fine. I also recommend you to have food at a Chinese restaurant that is on the other side of the Melbourne building. It has been awarded for Excellence for several years. An Italian restaurant next to the Chinese one is also not bad. These three restaurants are the cheapest ones, as far as I know, in Canberra. Some people may be surprised, if you have never been there once, that Canberra food is a lot more expensive that those in Melbourne. Food prices are normally $20-$30.

Location in city center.
Rooms well appointed and comfortable. housekeeping was below standard as the corridor was like an obstacle course. Our stay was excellent apart from the very untidy corridor. There was piles of dirty linen, service trolleys, rubish and a vacuum cleaner in the corridor all day and until at least 8 pm. The room was large and comfortable with modern fittings. Staff were polite, efficient and helpful.
We would stay there again at the same price.
Hotel Feature Tip : Excellent location near shops and buses.

Great Location, Clean, Tidy and Spacious Rooms Lack of Coffee and suger in room Very good hotel with friendly and informative staff, all sightseeing attractions were a short walk away with lots of food and drink choices on the doorstep.Rooms were very clean and tidy with plenty of room to swing a cat.Very quiet in the room even though we were on the main street side of the hotel.
