Excellent to visit for the restaurants alone, the Lakeside hotel is a winning choice. For romantic views of the lake –nice and high- and window-side dining, try the Skyline Restaurant on the 15th floor. It is romantic and artistically designed. If you are in the mood for rich history coupled with great cocktails and appetizers, hit up Cahoots Bar and Political Gallery –literally a museum in and of itself. good central location; nice views; spacious room.

building is aged; furnishing in the lobby and room predominantly unattractive; hotel surrounded by car parking on three sides.

The Agoda special price offered us a very good value for money. The hotel is well situated in the rather quiet part of the civic centre. The room was spacious and offered nice views. However the building looks quite aged, and the interior design is terribly out of date. I would expect a much better appearance for any hotel in the centre of Australia's capital city!

The location was great, central to everything in the city. Also liked the view. The staff was very friendly and couldn't be more helpful.

The only drawback was the restaurant, where we were put in a corner, and had a wait of two hours for our meal.

Our visit to Canberra was made more pleasant by staying at the Rydges Lakeside Hotel. The price was a little bit much for our normal budget but definitely value for money. The staff were very helpful and cooperative with our requests. Although we had a park side to the hotel we loved the view, and would not have traded it for the lake side. The rooms were very clean and and well maintained. The position of the hotel was so great that we could stroll to a bevy of cafes and restaurants or the Canberra City Walk with all assortment of shops.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Very central to all Canberra has to offer, and once you get used to the roads which circle, very hard to get lost.

Proximity to business area. Comfortable beds.

Bathrooms dated. Not good value for money.

I chose this hotel for its location, and that was fine. The room was not large, but the bed comfortable and a good desk and desk lamp. Nothing worse than ill-lit hotel rooms. But while money had been spent on the fittings, the same could not be said of the bathroom. Still, it was clean and acceptable. However, overall the hotel represented poor value for money, and breakfast was not included in the room rate.
