Right on the beach, awesome swimming pool

Rooms are very old and out-dated. Expensive.

I had originally booked a Deluxe Room which I thought was going to have ocea views but instead overlooked a park that was very muddy at the time due to the rain. When we checked in we asked if we could upgrade to an Ocean View Room (was willing to pay extra) but they said they were fully booked. When we got to our Deluxe Room we were shocked because the room was dark and dingy and it felt really damp and clammy. I took off my thongs and felt the carpet with my feet and it was wet. My friend sat in the armchair and her arms got wet. We rung the front desk and complained and he didn't even question us as he said he knew the room was damp! I guess he was hoping that we would be one of those customers that never complained! In any case, we were moved to an Ocean View Room straight away (even though at check in they seemed to be fully booked). The room was much nicer, but still very outdated! The bathroom was pretty cramped. There was a letter given to us explaining that maitenance was taking place around the hotel but we were assured it would not start until 10am. At 7:30m each morning we heard loud banging from the room next door and by 9am the drilling had started as well. I would class this hotel as 3 stars, yet it claims to be 5 stars. The only good thing about this hotel is the fact that it is part of the casino and on the beach. Everything else is very standard. I would not stay here again.

Hotel is an inexpensive taxi drive from the majority of places, restaurants offer a wide variety of food, don't need to leave the hotel for entertainment if you don't want to

New Italian restaurant airconditioning needs fixing to stop dripping water over customers or the table. The Casino would be much better if it was all nonsmoking.

This is our 4th time we have stayed at Skycity Darwin in as many years. We decided to spend our New Years Eve in somewhere other than home (Brisbane) and were not disappointed. The rooms were comfortable (even though the bathroom was a little small) and, as usual, we had to get used to glasses steaming up when leaving our room to catch the lift! Having a choice of restaurants on the premises meant not having to leave the establishment at night if you did not want to. The Sunset Buffet restaurant, whilst good value as far as price, often had long queues for breakfast lunch and dinner. It would have been good if in house guests were allowed to jump the queue instead of having to wait behind people who did not have reservations. Will certainly head to Skycity again when next staying in Darwin.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For a relaxing inexpensive lunch overlooking the water, try the Darwin Boat Trailer club for seafood.

Location, price

Building is a bit tired. Have to go outside into the heat to get from lifts to your room

Always nice to stay here. Great for an overnight between flights. Only downside is that you need to go outside into the heat to get from your lifts to your room. Hotel is dated, but very comfy.

Hotel Feature Tip : Great buffets.

Pool area positioned ideally to bar and restaurant and with quick access to your room if needed.

Although we cant generalise but staff could smile once in a while. One staff member was quite uppity and arrogant.

Locality is perfect - able to walk everywhere. Good if you over indulge at the restaurants.

Travel tip : Within walking distance to everything. Please ask staff for a map as they will not offer one.

Location, pool, separation of hotel side from the casino, gardens, helpfulness of the check in staff and concierge. And for us the complimentary internet facilities were perfect as we had business to attend to whilst we were there. The rooms were more than adequate (recently repainted I would think). We were very happy with our stay.

Ordering of food at the pool bar after 6p.m. wasn't really available although it indicated in the hotel guide that you could get pool snacks until late.

We specifically chose Sky City Darwin for its beachside location and pool and couldn't have been more pleased. We were 2 couple's in our 50's from New Zealand and heading to Katherine and Kakadu. To sit around the pool in the late afternoon and watch the sun set was glorious. And the hotel backs (or fronts) onto Mindil Beach and is right next door to the Mindil markets which is where everyone seems to head on a Thursday night. We had a car so getting into town was not a problem and the hotel did have a couple of free shuttles but they were not very frequent. That might be a drawback given that it's a couple of kilometres walk to town. But we certainly felt the positives of the location far outweighed this minor inconvenience. We enjoyed it so much we booked back in there for our last night before flying back from Darwin after our time in Kakadu.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Wonderful museum with a great cafe (which overlooks the Arafura Sea) only a short walk from the hotel.

Comfortable with everything you need in a large room. Very good food at breakfast with a large buffet.

But sad atmosphere. Everything seems to be old and dusty, even the lights are poor in the room. I will not go back in this hotel in spite the casino. It is a perfect hotel for groups.

Nightlife Tip : Casino is the better thing in the hotel.

As I enjoy a bit of a gamble, the casino was great for me.

Nice pool area, beautiful surroundings and friendly staff!

Does a piece of the city, so we must take a taxi.

We stayed at Skycity Darwin in a single night. The room was clean and nice, staff friendly and helpful. Pool area is lovely, calm and beautiful green surroundings. Good buffet with value for money. The casino is okay, nothing impressive game, but can be obtain its fun there. Overall a nice and stylish hotel, which we obviously would stay at again if we return!

Restaurant Tip : Take a taxi into town and eat at the restaurant chars. Really good Australian steaks and incredibly cozy atmosphere.
