Is a good stay overall but just some unhappy incident happen to my trip which not cause by the hostel.

We required to have a female room, but they said it is not a must to arrange it, and actually they did have spare rooms with no men inside the room. After we complained, the staff attitude was very ridiculous, we think we were discriminated as we requested to have unisex room, and he threw his pen and rudely handle our complaints, but the staff finally changed the room for us. However, he then arranged two another men into our room. And we already accepted that it is not always possible for them to arrange unisex room. BUT, this hostel is really unsafe! Any guest in the room can let others go in and change roommates anytime without informing the staff, and most of them already broke the rules stated in the room, but no staff cared about it.
When you got into the room, you are like, 'yuck! never have bags on the floor'. Everything in the room is dirty and old, all door handles are rust, hard to open and lock the doors.
Really poor experience, and seriously this stay already ruined our 2-week travel in Oz and makes us never go back to Gold Coast again.

good location with reasonable price
excellent location, few minutes to the beach, close to bus station

if u are a budget traveller, Islander would be the best choice for accommodation. few minutes walk to surfers paradise and bus station. it is convenient to go every tourist spots in gold coast. good to have private bathroom in the room for a hostel.

Large hotel with With bunk beds in rooms. Kitchen and grocery store nearby allowed cheap food. Pool was nice, hot tub was dirty though
