Modern & superbably situated.
Exquisite views from large windows in entrance lobby & cafe areas. Attached to the Federation Concert Hall.

this hotel is expansive & has every facility including a tenth floor gym & heated pool.
impeccably maintains & cleaned daily by friendly staff.
reception staff warm & understanding; eager to nominate & direct to tourist services & destinations.
airconditioning excellent, tv coverage extensive, hearty breakfast available to rooms at reasonable price.
we were delighted with every aspect including easy access to
marina, city shops, parks & restaurants.
our opinion is that it is up there with the best of the 5 star
brigade anywhere in major cities.
Restaurant Tip:
Visit the Salamanca square area for a whole variety of European
Alfresco & other cafe's.

Tasman Restaurant provides a great and well executed menu and the view of the harbour

lovely hotel with friendly staff and well appointed rooms. prints, photos and pictures create a tasmanian ambience and works by proud local artists capture the unique colour spectrum of the tasmanian landscape. staff are knowledgeable and give clear explanations of boat, bus and taxi services to mona and other tourist destinations. i recommend this hotel for visitors to hobart.
Restaurant Tip:
Smolt restaurant in Salamanca provides excellent Tasmanian produce particularly the salmon and wine list.

The hotel is in the heart of Hobart, exactly where everything is. The accommodations are very nice and the hotel offers a sense of luxury to its visitors. The front desk staff were very helpful and everyone in the hotel tried to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. The room was very clean and comfortable.
Restaurant Tip:
The hotel restaurant is very good but not great.

Overall nice stay. Was checked in,turned out to be first floor with a common door with strange smell linked to another room and could almost here them talking.
Talked to the reception and the upgraded me to a deluxe room which is much better. Nice view harbour side, good sized room, refurbished (but I still consider it old...).
Some details really bothers me as they are really basic standard.
They have 2 rails for curtains in the room but only one is used hence there is no overlapping section at the middle and light get in really early (around 5:00). Even the curtains are not wide enough.
The bath room does not have an isolated shower section (you shower in the tub with a glass wall but not totally closed) thus there is no way you can have a shower without wetting the floor -- and that's really not good for a refurbished room.....

Just ok. No wifi. Poor curtains let light in.

Chose more expensive, refurbished room. Awakened at 5:30 am by light streaming in between curtains and walls. And no sheer privacy curtain, so that once you get up if you open the curtains for natural light, everyone on the Barbour can see you. And a "business hotel" in 2012 with no wi finin the rooms? Really?
Rooms were clean and staff was pleasant.
