A beautifully restored heritage building on the banks of the Tamar River, close to the stunning Cataract Gorge. Built in 1840 as a corn mill, later relocated stone by stone, and now fully renovated to a classic boutique hotel in the historical town of Launceston. Each of the recently refurbished rooms offer all the modern comforts, including high speed internet, and 24-hr room service. Clean rooms and king sized bed
The reception area is separated from the apartment, which makes it difficult for me to locate the reception.
I was expecting a 2 bedroom apartment, but was given 2 interconnecting rooms. However, I'm fine with it, as both rooms are equipped with kitchen facilities. The room lack of a cupboard for the clothes, and the toilet is just beside the bed. The rooms are clean, and the bed is comfortable.

close to city and Cataract Gorge.
Covered parking for guests cars would be an improvement.
We were very pleased with the locality of the Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel. It was within walking distance of the city and the walking track to the famous Cataract Gorge . The buildings in general were historically attractive. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant/bistro was cozy, had great food and service. A bonus was the gourmet lolly shop as part of the complex. We would have liked covered parking for our car.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you plan to visit Cataract Gorge while in Launceston this hotel is just the place to stay.
