The Blackman hotel is in a great quiet spot with a great vibe where you can hop on a tram and be in the city in a few minutes. The service is professional and very pleasant. I love the art series hotel themed concept of being surrounded by Charles Blackmans artwork's. Once you enter your Studio Suite you are struck by a very plush room with attention to detail throughout (colour scheme, artworks to enjoy on the wall, Australian art book's to view or purchase and you can get even get to know about Charles Blackman by viewing the film on the tele as well). With out a doubt the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and could stay for days. The room has low lighting throughout which makes it so cosy as I find overhead lights annoying (some people might not like this). The room is a self contained apartment with all you need. The only thing I missed was the bath tub which is in Deluxe room where I've stayed before. If you need to head out early the French cafe in the hotel is very convenient with great service fantastic coffee and delicious meals. You can also go to the Italian restaurant to get a great meal and drinks for those late nights when you don't want to venture out. The Blackman Hotel is very accommodating hotel you could check in and not check out! That's a rap!!!!!
Travel tip:
If you have time take advantage of the cool bike with baskets and tool around the park.

the staff at this hotel is excellent - professional yet unpretentious. the rooms are beautifully furnished, and there is lots of attention to detail, eg. the art books on the shelf; the layout of the kitchenette.
the hotel is decorated throughout by high quality prints of blackman's works. any charles blackman fan should be very happy to be surrounded by his artwork; and those who don't know him will find this place a nice introduction.
overall, an excellent place to stay - i will certainly be returning.

The beds alone are worth staying at The Blackman for, the rooms are very well designed with the fantastic Blackman art everywhere.
Nice views if you are above the 6th floor
Staff are professional and the cafe & restaurant below are very good.
No pool or outdoor areas unlike their sister hote the Olsen which has a lovely pool and terrace area to sunbathe.
Rooms have balconys so lovely to have the choice of fresh air or air con.
Perfectly equipped kitchens and large plasmas/ ipod docks etc
you wont be disappointed at any of the Art Series hotels.
I think they should do them in every city of Australia, great concept!

I love all three of the Art Series hotels in Melbourne, but the Blackman may be my favorite. I was upgraded to a suite, which made my stay all the better. The room was clean, quiet, spacious. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern and worked well. Linens were good. Staff at the front desk were friendly. This was as close to a perfect hotel stay as I have experienced. If I could change anything, it would be that the towel rack were moved 1/2 meter closer to the shower, for ease of access -- but that's pretty small!
Restaurant Tip:
The herb fines omelette at Fleur Cafe in the hotel is great.
