Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Central location
Central location, bright and clean lobby.

Overall I was disappointed with Oaks. A previous stay at a Melbourne Oaks hotel prompted me to choose Oaks in Brisbane thinking the hotel would be of the same quality and standard: good location, clean room and facility, helpful staff etc. But the maintenance standard at Oaks Charlotte was obviously not the same (kitchenware not cleaned properly, there was a sock left in the dryer by a previous occupant).

Trendy and functional hotel
Kitchenette in each room, friendly/funky reception, great location, well sized rooms
9.7
This is my second trip to the Cullen and stayed 6 nights. When I got there, I got held up a little because the person staying in my original room extended their stay, so I was kindly upgraded by the friendly Matt, but I had to wait a little at the Terrace with a few beers.
I loved the room... rooftop with a great balcony that had a wonderful view of Prahran and beyond. As always, liked the kitchenette. There was an issue with some of the fittings in the bathroom, but not a huge deal. Also, so the housekeeping for the kitchenette wasn't consistent with each day (didn't end up with a dish towel from day 2... and no plate scrubber).
The reception staff, especially Jessica, were accommodating and friendly with hellos every time i walked past reception. I had a little get together that as well for a bigger balcony and reception were great with bringing extra plates and glasses for us, as well as sending guests up.
Room service and housekeeping isn't 24 hours, but that's not a huge deal. The gym is a bit small for my liking, but it is a boutique hotel, so no complaints.
I highly recommend this hotel to young travellers who want great access to the heart of the city and awesome bars, along with a friendly reception and well set-out rooms.
Restaurant Tip:
Check out Vodka, Borsch and Tears on Chapel Street (turn right when walking from the Cullen) and be prepared for wonderful Russian food along with house-flavoured vodkas.

Great location near all types of shops and supermarkets

Would stay here again as the staff were really helpful and the choice of places to eat and shop was great. We had a great main course in the in house Chinese restraunt and followed with desert in the hotel Italian restraunt.

The art series, The Cullen.
Location, bed & pillows, size of room.
9.7
Great value for money. The room is a good size and the bed is amazing. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Giant LCD on the wall with quite a few channels to choose from. Nice marble kitchenette area with microwave. Plunger coffee in room as well.
The terrace downstairs did an amazing breakfast and coffee.
Not so sure about the frosted glass bathroom if sharing with someone, especially when using the loo! But the shower was amazing, really good water pressure and a large shower head.
Service was great, front desk really friendly and helpful.
I asked for a DVD player and there were none available, i asked again in the morning of the next day as would think that by night time surely one would have been returned. Still had no luck. Not sure how many they have to rent but it appeared they had no idea or kept track of when they were due back.

The Cullen Art Series, best hotel in Melbourne
Unique hotel, divine room, comfy beds, wonderful pillows, strong shower and great position,
10
i have never been a huge fan of melbourne mainly as my previous visits have revolved around business or the australian open when it's often unpleasantly hot. the accommodation has always fallen (very) short whether for business or pleasure...until now. i was so surprised that a wee hotel in a big city could be so unique in its decore and comfort. friendly, customer oriented staff, a room that was not just clean and comfortable but interesting, modern and totally enjoyable. we were hugely impressed by the comfort of the beds and pillows - the only other time we have been this comfortable was in a luxury resort in phuket! and no shower in the bath - what a relief! my sister and i had a fantastic meal in the restaurant downstairs and were only sorry we couldn't test the other one. not only am i motivated to return to melbourne but will only stay at the cullen or one of the other art series hotels. i have recommended the series to a work colleague who has since booked into the olsen based on my glowing report.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There is no place like Melbourne for great shows. We were spoilt for choice with musicals (Jersey Boys and 'The King and I'; art gallery and Titanic exhibition - book online DON'T buy on the day.
