Excellent location
Good access by local transport
Friendly and helpful staff
Small rooms
Poor breakfast
The hotel is located in a quiet cross street - pedestrian zone between Bourke and Collins Streets which are both big shopping streets in the central Melbourne. Almost everything which is worth seeing in Melbourne lies within the walking distance. A few steps away lies the Chinatown on the Little Bourke Street with many good Asian restaurants, good food at reasonable prices. If you don't like the choice of the breakfast buffet (which is actually poor), you can have a better breakfast in one of many cafes and bistros in front of the hotel entrance.

Great location, good price. Clean and serviced daily. Breakfast simple continental style but was quite adequate prior to a day of shopping.
We were grateful for a late check-out free of charge as my daughter was feeling sick that day.
Staff were helpful and polite.
Rooms quite small, and you could hear the people showering in the adjacent room.( Tap noises etc)
A bit of a nuisance having to change lifts at the 2nd floor to get to our room.
The washing machine swallowed my money but didn't work. I was told that the handyman would meet me at the machine so I waited and waited and..... nearly missed breakfast. I had to bring home the dirty laundry with the detergent sprinkled on. Am I the only person to ever attempt to use this facility?
The Causeway Inn is well located in the heart of Melbourne. The rooms were clean and they were serviced daily which makes even a cheap holiday special. I thought the package including the continental breakfast was excellent value.
Our twin room was a little small and we found it a bit hard to find space to put both our suitcases.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I was annoyed however that the washing machine in the laundry facility did not work.
Not fancy but ladies the money you save on the accommodation can be put towards more fashion items, or tickets to a show!
Shopping Tip : There are lots of interesting fashion boutiques in little laneways, and arcades between little Collins St and Collins St. My 21 year old daughter loved these little shops. She got lots of bargains.

Fantastic location just of Bourke street
Staff very helpful
Good value for money
I really enjoyed staying here. The location was convenient to shopping transport etc. Breakfast was included in my package which made it extremely good value for money. The rooms are a little small and basic but for the amount of time spent in the room it wasn't really a problem.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Information desk just outside the hotel on Bourke street. Very helpful can provide details of shopping areas to visit and how to get there.

Location is good. Within the heart of the shopping area.
No direct lift to the rooms. You got to change to another lift on the 2nd floor.
Location of Causeway Inn on The Mall is good. It's within the heart of the shopping area. But the entrance of the hotel is not facing the main street, so you might have difficulties locating it. The hotel only serves a simple breakfast with toast, cereals, fruits, milk, coffee and tea. So do not expect a big spread. Room is simple and small, but clean.

Central location, decent breakfast.
Very modest rooms, TV's don't work, beds uncomfortable.

I would not stay here again, despite the central location. There are other better hotels in the area for around the same price.

Hotel was a little out of the way from the downtown strip with all the restaurants and shops but still walkable and maybe a little quieter.

Very good location for visiting the city
I found this hotel agreable both in terms of its location to visit Melbourne as its quality / price I highly recommend this address for lovers of walking tour of Melbourne. Easily accessible from the airport. At the heart of old Melbourne, this hotel allows you to daydream, go shopping, go out at night or simply find a good place to eat without using a taxi
