Nice modern hotel
Free wifi, location at North-East corner of the CBD
8.3
Fast free wifi is a big plus. Well located within walking distance of the University of Melbourne and all of the CBD. Decent cafes nearby and just a couple of blocks from chinatown. One negative is that if sharing a twin room with a colleague, the two single beds are uncomfortably close together. Also, the 1st floor rooms overlooking the back alley are noisy, especially when the garbage truck comes. The staff allowed us to move to a higher floor, and even offered to move our bags, which was impressive.

Quality at a good price
Location / Room size and cleanliness

Fraser Place is well located near China Town, the Greek Precinct, Melbourne Central and Lygon St. We used Fraser Place as our base to attend the Australian Open and enjoy everything that Melbourne has to offer. Our room had a King Size bed with kitchenette. The kitchenette was a real bonus and allowed you to knock up a quick meal if needed, plus it had a decent size fridge for your drinks etc. The room was cleaned every day (except Sunday) and the staff were friendly and efficient. We had the breakfast package which was basically a hot continental including bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bake beans. Plus cereals, toast, juices and coffee or tea. The breakfast is pretty standard each day but the quality was good. If this is not your bag their are literally dozens of Cafes which do breakfasts in the surrounding streets. Lygon St is only 10 minutes walk away which has many more restaurants for lunch or dinner and is a must do in Melbourne. The Victoria Markets are also 10 minute walk and are another must do, with their 300 plus market stalls (something for everyone). For those you have not been to Melbourne before, it is a shopping and dining haven, so do yourself a favour and visit the Victorian Tourism Website and read up on the plethera of sights to see.
So would I recommend Fraser Place.....yes; and I would stay their again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take the ferry to Williams Town. The trip along the river is very enjoyable and the ferry Captain gives you a run down on some of the history of the river and the surrounds.

Room was not a deluxe twin, but a double (made into twin) no room to move or put things (like suitcases) or hang clothes up.
Restaurant Tip:
Make sure you go to the 24hr Greek restaurant, was the best tip from hotel staff.

Delightful comfortable accommodation central to all aspects Melbourne has to offer with a delicious breakfast to sally forth to investigate the city. Light and airy with extremely comfortable beds and nice little kitchette more than adequate for a few days or longer. Very hand to Coles or Woolworths to stock up on supplies.

Great size room with fantastic location
Location, comfortable bed, room service and good breakfast
9.7
We loved the quiet location, close to restaurants, Melbourne Jail and easy walk to everything. Breakfast provided adequate choices. Room was clean, modern and very comfortable. We had a dishwasher in our room, but would have preferred the room with laundry facilities. Would stay here again without hesitation.
