I remember this building from my childhood when it was the Old Railway Administration building. It was turned into a hotel in the late 1990's. I finally got a chance to have a suite in the hotel whilst conducting business in Melbourne and will be staying there again.
I liked the waiting area within the reception and the range of novels that were available for you to rent, nice touch.
The room size is great with raised ceilings; I really like the idea of the bedroom and bathroom being on a mezzanine level within the room, it gave the feel of being at home when you retired for the evening. The bed is something to be experienced, incredibly comfortable and cozy.
The street noise outside was not heard from within my room and my room view was straight up Spencer Street, overlooking Southern Cross Train station.
I will be staying here again.
The suite was wonderful, the waiting lounge and reading area is a great idea.

- Hotel Feature Tip : A bed you slept in and not on will always win me over.

We found a really nice restaurant across the road from the new section lobby, bought breakfast there every day cost us $15US. For the same meal in the hotel was $43US. Eat at Bobby Chinns.
