I stayed 1 night here on 18 Oct 2009. The room was clean and large.
However, there was no wine glass provided in the room. We called the room service but the answer was we needed to go down at the reception to pick it by ourself. Also, if you ordered food, they wouldn't bring it for you.
The worst thing, there was a construction site next to the hotel and surely they made unexceptable noise in the morning (started around 7am.)
If you are not a morning person, you should be looking for another hotel.

Excellent Price, Close Proximity to attractions & good customer service.
Better facilities, requires gym, fitness centre, swimming pool
Hotel Ibis Melbourne was a great stay. The price was excellent and the locations of attractions was nearby. Only cons were there wasn't any swimming pool, gym and sauna or massage facilities, saying that it was self rated at 4 star establishment. Customer service was great and very warm and friendly, I would advise my friends and family to stay at the Hotel Ibis Melbourne next time I'm in town.

Very good location. Close to the Victoria Market where you can find fresh fruits and cooked food, close to the free City Tram. 15 mintues walk to China Town.
There's no housekeeping service after 5pm. If you need a soap, you have to go to reception desk to get it by yourself.
Very good location. You can walk to many places or take the free city tram to get to many places.We stayed at the two bedroom apartment, but there's no cooktop in the kitchen. There're a microwave and a toaster only. The hotel room is small. But when we went to Ibis hotel in Sydney, we had no complain about the room size of the hotel Ibis Melbourne. Don't expect it to be a fancy hotel, just a clean place to sleep in. It's only like a two star hotel in Asia. Only cheap soap and shampoo are provided, no toothbrush and sleepers. Not very considerate with Asian customers as hotels in Europe or US. You need to pay $20/per night for parking.
Shopping Tip : The price of the fruits and vagetables in Victoria Market is much better than the 7/11.
