queen sized bed was definitely not standard queen size- more like double. pillow menu was useless as nothing was available.
waited over an hour for a bucket with ice from room service.
location great, staff friendly, rooms small but clean and modern.

The staff are helpful and the room is clean. It is also situated in a good location where it is accessible to all places. We loved the hotel and were glad that we had chosen this hotel to stay in Melbourne. We will stay in this hotel again when we come back to Melbourne.

Vintage Look hotel with excellent location

took lots of photo as the hotel is beautiful. go around the hotel to explore and you can see lots of nice things. main hall old lightings is really beautiful. pillars around is actually made of marble. and as for the rooms, its modern, clean and fashionable. only setback is on the noisy flooring. no choice as the carpets were only done overlay and the wood flooring below is noisy. there's no parking lot, but valet service is provided at aud35/day.

Hotel is in a great location close to train station and with in walking distance to Southbank and Casino. We found the staff excellent and we had breakfast included each day and it was really good value. Our stay was for the Melbourne Cup carnival which we have been attending for over 10 years and we found this the best accommodation we have stayed at so far and excellent vakue for money.

What does deluxe really mean?
Well appointed but small rooms

Originally booked deluxe rooms for our group but on check in was told that deluxe rooms were now classified as superior rooms and superior rooms had been upgraded to deluxe rooms, and as we had originally booked deluxe rooms 6 months ago we were now to be given lower grade superior rooms. Work that out?
After a long argument with staff we were left with no option but to accept superior rooms even though we had paid for higher priced deluxe rooms. This left an initial poor impression- the superior rooms were very small, the bathrooms were very tiny (leg room for toilets actually protuded into the shower!)and view was onto the adjacent building. Rooms however were well appointed with good beds.
