Location, decor. They even presented me a book on australia which was in the room, I had liked it and wanted to know where to buy. That was a wonderful gesture.
Very little cupboard space. Rooms on the small side.
The location of the hotel was excellent, they have cafes, shops and even a cinema in the complex! The lobby was beautifully decorated and like I had read in the reviews, it smelt like a spa, very calming and relaxing. The rooms were nice though on the small side and had very little cupboard space. The first morning we were woken up with a lot of drilling and hammering noise, apparently some work in the next room. After complaining we were moved to a higher floor facing the river. Obviously a better room with better toiletries and even a nespresso coffee machine! There was a problem getting in touch with the lobby or concierge as it took ages for the phone to be answered and sometimes not at all.
Travel tip : This hotel is near everything, shopping, restaurants, riverfront. You can walk everywhere.

the warmth of the sraff.
the design and appointments of the room
It was such a wonderful place to stay that I will allow you the benefit of a complaint. Those product placements in the rooms- "use this and it will cost $5" are really the stuff of lesser hotels. Dont do it. when I am living in a room I dont want to be annoyed by signs that tell me how much it will cost to touch things. Its a small thing but you coud do better than that.
I spent 3 days n the hotel, leaving only once for a short walk, so I got to bump into many staff members. I was delighted and surprised to find that everyone -yes, everyone- was cheerful, adknowledged me, and gave every appearance of enjoying their work, and and having care and concern for the comfort and pleasure of my stay. In particular, the houskeeping staff were personable and appropriately interactive with me. (level 43) The room itself was just beautiful. It was appointed in such a way that it gave a sense of calmness and peacefulness. A wonderful hotel. Thank you.
Travel tip : The gardens, up Collins Street and across the road were just beautiful towalk through in the mornings. Something that surpised me was the street scupture collection of old premiers of Victoria: Bolte, Hamer, Cain and someone I didnt recognise, done in a vigorous and lively style

Complimentary Upgrate to a beautiful suite.
Everything has been thought of.
Excellent service.
Easy check in/out.
I was looking for a biscut to have with my coffee.
We arrived and were greeted at our car by a lovely gentleman who took care of the car for us. We then went to reception to check in and the very friendly lady gave us a complimentary upgrade to the 41st floor. It was a pleasant surprise for us. We walked into the room and were blown away by the stunning views and the appointments in the room. I felt like a queen! Unfortunately we were only there for a short time but will definately be back. Thank you Sofitel & Agoda.
Nightlife Tip : It just around the corner from a great bar called Silk Road and is also walking distance from Rod Laver Arena.

Huge Plasma TV. Modern features. Very cosy and comfortable room. Great views. Friendly and helpful staff. Late check-out
In my view there were no Cons. Everything was great
Very modern, spacious and comfortable room in immaculate condition. Huge plasma television facing kingsize bed. Compact bedside touch screen remote control for TV, lights, airconditioning and other things. Fantastic views of Melbourne CBD and surrounds (I was on 50th floor). Staff were genuinely friendly and most helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel. Great location, close to theatres, shops, restaurants, bars and treasury gardens. Highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

cost of things in mini bar were outrageous
had a pleasant stay, service was exceptional, my expectations were met and overall had a most enjoyable stay. There were however downfalls the cost for dinner in the hotel was expensive and the prices for items in the mini bar were outrageous. Hopefully the hotel wasn't trying to make up for the reasonable cost of accommodation by ripping one off elsewhere.
Restaurant Tip : best to eat outside of this hotel as some very good restaurants at reasonable prices within walking distance

Excellent location, room / room size
Main restaurant under renovation; temporary solution can't handle the demand on Sundays.
I have experienced the Sofitel as a pleasent hotel in an excellent location (a few minutes from the main shopping area). Room size and comfort is good, room was clean. Unfortunately the restaurant was under renovation. The temporary solution could not cope with the demand on especially Sundays.

The location is excellent, walking distance to restaurants and tourist attractions. Tram out the front, easy to commute around the city.
Would have prefered to have a bay view rather than a city view. Room was quite warm, hard to regulate temperature.
Overall I enjoyed the stay at the hotel. Check in was good, was allowed into room at noon. We had lunch at Cafe La, food was excellent and service was first class ,great view of the city and bay from the restaurant, would recommend restaurant to others. Sunday Buffet well worth the experience.

Its prime positions on one of the classiest and most beautiful streets in Melbourne! It's also a three-minute walk from Parliament Station.
Hotel Feature Tip : The alcohol is only free for two hours so get in quick!
