Good location in the heart of Melbourne city. Close to shopping and Crown Plaza. VEry convenient if one needs to take a tram or bus. Even the free sightseeing bus 5 mins away from the hotel. Since we booked thru Agoda in a standard room we were not given a room in the new wing of the hotel. ALthough they were not sold out they did not give us good room. Overall good but could have been better with a room in the new wing of the hotel. Rooms clean but view from the room not good. Security in the hotel also good.

location, close to shops and restaurants, large room, dvd player. bathtub was very slippery. Internet very expensive. My room was spacious and well set out, close to all the sights of CBD Melbourne. Staff were friendly and helpful and always knew the answer to my questions.
The man who was sent to fix the dvd player was prompt and able to sort out the issue quickly.

The hotel needs a refurbishment as the carpets in foyer are a bit old and the quality of the bath rooms is really not what u would expect from a hotel of this standard. Grand Mercure On Swanston Hotel is very centrally located and you are in the centre of the business and shopping district.
The hotel don't really offer much of a restaurant selection but there are many nice restaurants and cafe's located near the hotel.
China town, Melbourne is just across the road.
Overall the hotel is o.k, and very good location
