We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The lobby and bar area had a nice atmosphere. Our room was newly renovated with a spotless modern bathroom.A comfortable bed with big flat screen tv made the room excellent value for the price. The only negative was a bit of corridor noise (thin walls i presume)I will definately stay here again on my regular trips to Melbourne.

Good value for money. Newly refurbished room with modern spotless bathroom. Hotel bar had a great atmosphere.

Slightly noisy with corridor noise and outside motor noise

Last minute booking meant this was a bargain at $120 on a Friday night. I got more than I expected for the price. Being at the back, the room was very quiet, comfortable and functional with a bright, modern bathroom and huge Plasma Tv on the wall. Check in/out was quick and efficient and if you need to be in central Melbourne, this is in a great location

Great central MELBOURNE location, good, compact room with comfortable bed and bright modern bathroom and above all cheap when booked last minute. Quick and efficient check in/out.

Some Public areas a little dated.

The hotel was well located with parking on site but 15 AUD per day. However the hotel has been there a long time and is a bit strange in its layout. The upper floors are being refurbished so there is dust around on floors 8 and 9. No room service. The pool was tiny and decrepit and the spa did not work. On balance you get a good location and a comfy room but not all the extras of a modern hotel.

Parking, central.

Dated, rambling.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go on a cycling tour with near Flinders Street Station.

We loved our stay at 'The Vic'! What a great place for country people to feel at home. The location is fantastic & the amenities are comfortable & staff are really helpful. We were able to check into our room early (thank you!) & then leave our luggage in the Porters' room after check out - what a great service. I loved reading about the history of the Vic in the book which was in our room - I will buy a copy next time. We will definitely return to the Vic.

Old world atmosphere & charming - love the room key pigeon-holes! A hotel with a history. Staff are friendly. Wonderful having a pool - a highlight for my 5 year old. Our room had everything we required.

Some things needed a bit of attention: cracked tile & a cracked window in the pool area; one ceiling light fitting was loose & TV channels were limited.

  • Restaurant Tip : China Town is just around the corner - my son loved trying authentic Chinese food & using chopsticks!

I won't stay there again Guest Rating: 3.0

Nice for a quiet evening glass of wine with the soft sound of the piano playing in the background. Can talk to friends or business associates without the music drowning out the conversation.

  • Restaurant Tip : Try Gopals Restuarantpn Swanston Street for vegetarian food...the best we have tasted.
