Good value-for-money hotel in Melbourne
Great location for seeing Melbourne and great value for money

the hotel itself is ok, nothing to shout out about. rooms are a decent size and of average cleanliness.
one complain though - one night we came back to the room to find not a single towel - no bath/face towels, bathmat etc. called reception and was told curtly to pick them up at reception. so went down there and the guy at reception wasn't the brightest chap. i already explained our situation on the phone but when i went down, he only had bath towels. so i had to ask for face towels and a bathmat, he went out back and brought back just face towels. then i said to him, what about the bathmat? he goes back out again and brings out more face towels. i said, how about a bathmat?? he then explained they were out of bathmats but not in an apologetic manner but more like it was my bloody fault! unbelievable! at no point did i get a simple "sorry we didn't leave any new towels in your room".
anyways one guy's actions is not representative of this place. on a brighter note, the lady (forgot the name but she was from mauritius) who checked us in on arrival was extremely pleasant and made us feel welcome!
on the whole, we would consider coming back to this hotel if we were to visit melbourne again.

Great location and excellent service

Our stay was a very comfortable one. The shower had excellent water pressure and the room was warm with the air conditioner, working as it should. The staff was very helpful with bus transfers. We had the buffet breakfast and was given a discount to the cost. There was plenty of food with nice, friendly staff to provide prompt service. We could leave our bags at the desk after checking out so we could still investigate the city surrounds. The hotel is so close to all attractions of Melbourne City. I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Close to Casino for meals and shows.
Close to grounds for football.
Lot's of restaurants to choose from.

right smack in the middle of the city life

rooms are inappropriately offered, couples are better off getting 2 separate beds than getting one bed, because the bed size are the same. If they allow 2 persons on a single bed, then they should allow 4 persons in their regular 2 bed rooms.

Most shops are open till late in the evening around the hotel

Great location at a very good price

This is an excellent medium priced hotel for those who want to enjoy the Southbank in Melbourne. It is within walking distance of everything one might need. I have been before and will definately go again.

Very close to many restaurants, coffee shops and bars etc

the travel lodge is in a good location. only a few minutes walk over the river to the top end of the city and flinders street station. there are cafes located close to the hotel and there are plenty of taxis available which is always good for the business traveler.
the rooms we're clean and comfortable. the one thing that i found annoying was that the wifi is not free.

Location is fantastic, just out the back of the main southbank precinct. The rooms are pretty average and dated and bathrooms really pokey. Water pressure very average. Small flat screen TV in room. Comfortable enough and for price what do you expect? If your not planning on being in the room much I suppose a good enough place to leave your bags and fall asleep in at night.
