Close to the shopping area, such as City, art centre.
The extra bed was not comfortable.
We had a good time during our visit, the staff were helpful in giving direction. The hotel price is reasonable.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Traveling with the City Circle is the most enjoyable trip where we can reach many places in Melbourne in such short visit.

Location and convenience.
This hotel is just one block from the Yarra River and Melbourne's Southbank. It's a great place to walk and has all kinds of restaurants. It's also near many parks and gardens. The free tourist shuttle is a block away, and a central tram station is right over the river. My room had a refrigerator, microwave and dishes so I could eat some meals in the room. It was clean and quiet. I'd recommend it highly.
Hotel Feature Tip : Kitchenette allowed you to eat in the room.

Central position
Very friendly and helpful staff from reception to cleaning staff
Kitchenette was useful
Good sized double room
Very reasonable price
Didn't dislike anything except view onto wall of building which didn't really worry us unduly. A toaster would have been good in the room although Reception staff kindly allowed us to use the toaster in the breakfast room when required.
We will certainly use this hotel every time we travel to Melbourne in the future. We were first-time users and had read reviews of other travellers in which almost all were happy with it and we would have to agree. The position is its best feature as it is in Southbank, close to the river, the centre of the city, trains, trams and buses. Even the free shuttle bus stops nearby. The room was larger in size than we expected and most comfortable. We heard no noise at all the four nights we were there and it was useful to be able to heat up light meals in the microwave. There were a variety of restaurants and take-away cafes/coffee shops nearby and a small (if expensive) supermarket within a minute's walk for groceries. Overall, it was excellent value.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We enjoyed a self-guided (with brochure from Visitors' Centre) tour of arcades and lanes for 1-1/2 hours where we learned some interesting history and facts about Melbourne.

Very good location on the Southbank, close to Southgate, Crown Casino, Flinders Street and the main areas of interest
nothing really, if you are after luxury and pampering, this is not the hotel for you
The Travelodge Southbank is ideally placed and is within walking distance of pretty much most of what you'll need for your stay in Melbourne. The hotel itself is clean, rooms are well appointed and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located next to the Eureka Skytower and the immediate area was very safe, secure and mostly quiet. The Southgate Centre is about a minute or two walk and the Crown Casino food court is within walking distance too. You could even have food delivered to your room if you so wish, with dishes and cutlery provide and there's a microwave too

Location, price, friendly staff, great breakfast.
This time even though we had booked a twin room, we only had a double bed and a pullout sofa which my 24 year old son had to sleep on. He finds that a little uncomfortable.
Once again i enjoyed another stay at the travelodge. The convenience to restaurants is wonderful and to the train, also with the location being so central, it was easy to walk to the rod laver arena for the tennis and we went to a show at her majesties theatre which we were also able to walk to. I have lost count now how many times we have stayed at the travelodge but the staff are always very friendly even at their busiest times.

Great location, friendly staff always ready to help. Restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
The breakfasts are lovely
No room service available, have to order from outside restaurants and a fee is charged for delivery.
We always enjoy our stay at the travelodge and even when it is at its busiest time, the staff are always courteous and very friendly and will help with any question we might have. We have always been able to check in a little earlier than the normal time as often we arrive at different times due to flying in from perth. The convenience of being near the trains and all the restaurants in southbank, plus the nearness to the casino and a quick walk into the city, makes it the most convenient hotel in melbourne. The hotel is also very quiet and not caught up in the rush of the city.

We enjoy staying at the travelodge at southbank melbourne due to its location, the size of the rooms as it accomodates 3 adults which is useful for us and the reasonable price.
No room service, food has to be ordered from outside and extra fees are charged for delivery. No coffee shop.
We have stayed at the travelodge a lot of times now as our daughter and her husband live in Melbourne. The staff are very friendly and helpful at all times and we were very happy that we could leave our extra luggage with them as we toured back and forth three times during our last visit. It is very handy having a 7/11 store near by and having the microwave in the room. The facilities are always nice and clean and as we often catch the midnight flight from Perth, the hotel has been able to accommodate us earlier than the normal check in time which is wonderful when tired.

Front desk staff were very helpful, our cards for our rooms lost their programming and it was no problem to have them reprogrammed. There is a guest laundry available with washer and dryer for those staying for some time - $3 (AU) a load. Overall a great experience - we'll be coming back.
Restaurant Tip : Belgian Beer Hall at the basement of the Eureka Tower next door, and PJ O'Briens Irish pub at Southbank.

Rooms are comfortable and clean and have a kettle and microwave.
This place is perfectly located in the CBD of Melbourne. We were there for an Irish v Aus rugby game. There is a great atmosphere here and the place is within walking distance of pretty much anywhere you need to go to in Melbourne.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The neighborhood tour is entertaining! Also get the free tram around the city, its fantastic!

Stayed there many times. Could sense a bit of a slide in a standard of service and attention to details this time. Hope they were just having a bad week and not a sign of things to come.
