it is close to major transport routes, Coles Supermart and Southbank/Yarra River area.the room has a small kitchenette (microwave,3 sets of various cutlery). i was disappointed that the cleaning was quite slip-shod.

Great location, near the Yarra river.
Quiet location, but within close walking distance to the riverside. Great restaurants and bars. River cruises running every day. Within walking distance to the city centre, shops, cafes.

Great hotel. Our room was a good size. Had a small kitchenette area, fridge, microwave. All very clean. My only disappointment was that the beds were not the most comfortable, and pillows were very old. I requested new ones but they were not an improvement. Staff were helpful in answering all our questions about tours and the city. Hotel Location great, as it was near to the river. Beautiful views of the city. Plenty of restaurants bars and shops very close by, with budgets to suit everyone. I was our last stop in Australia. Reasonably priced. I would definitely return in the future.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
I you want a hotel that is close to the riverside and all its attractions yet within walking distance of great city, it's a winner.

Excellent location friendly staff
within walking distance to Melbournes CBD lots of resturants close by.

We were able to take the Skybus shuttle from the airport and then directly to the hotel, our check in was smooth and efficient, the twin room was very clean and a good size with a kitchen area with a microwave, the hotel was a short walk accross the river into the city, I would reccommend this hotel as a great base for exploring the city of Melbourne.

travelodge (southbank) always first choice...

the travelodge (southbank) is always our choice when spending a night "up in the city". points of recommendation are - civil, helpful & smiling staff, clean rooms, availability of breakfast (with discount!) and soooo convenient to the city and station.
any overseas visitors are always impressed with the value for one of the "economic" hotels available.
Restaurant Tip:
If you are dining out along Southbank - a 10% is given at The World Restaurant on presentation of your Travelodge room key.

Good hotel, great location

We couldn't fault the service. The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to the Crown Casino, short stroll to Melbourne city and all the riverside shops. The rooms themselves were ok, although in bad need of a refurbishment. It all just looked a little old and tired inside. The quilt covers just looked a bit worn. Having said that though, it was clean and the price was fantastic for the location. The staff were helpful and friendly and I would certainly stay there again. No free wi if though which would be a welcome addition.
