leaving each morning to head to the nearest food outlet for a decent coffee and a bite to eat

It was awful. It had an appalling level of noise reaching the room from the lift, the above ceiling air-conditioning system and the guests leaving the lift, especially guests who have absolutely no respect for anyone as they scream at the top of their voices each night. A bottle of Beer cost $9 not $6.

First time at this hotel for about 5 years, still an excellent budget option. Relatively quiet location on Royal Pde but short walk to Brunswick restaurants/bars, Melbourne Uni, or tram to CBD. Rooms are not huge but well appointed, and appreciate nice touches like a minibar with decent products at a reasonable markup.

We have stayed at the Vibe Hotel now on a few occasions on our regular visits to Melbourne and have found it to be of very good value for money especially for the location. They rooms are of average standard but for the price its very clean . One note is to ask for a room that is not facing the main road as the trams can be very noisy in the mornings if you are a light sleeper.
