This is a good value hotel if you want to be close to Oxford Street area and the rate offered isnt too high, comparatively. The staff are largely very friendly, the room spacious and nicely decorated, equiped, etc. The bed did squeek every time I turned, the alarm clock didnt work and the view was of an adjacent tower block looming into my room. But all minor things for the price I paid.

This is a well-located, well run budget hotel in a very expensive city. Draws a young crowd, both families and gay couples attracted to the lively and stylish attractions of Surry Hills. Close to the action but sufficiently far from the noise.

Location made the difference

The hotel was OK and I loved being in Surry Hills, though I got frustrated with the high hidden costs. It was clean and held high basic standards and my initial experience was good. The staff let me use the shower room while my room was being prepared and made a concerted effort to let me check in early, which I really appreciated. Beyond that every single amenity required paying and was expensive at that -- including internet, 1 hour late check out, and even more than usually overpriced minibar. Had to pay $40 for a rollaway bed. No toiletries available at the desk when I needed a toothbrush. The lines at the front desk got quite long at times - I got locked out of my room as I was rushing to get my out of town a bus and had to wait 15 minutes just to replace the key.
