Overall, the Mercure was a nice place. Friendly staff, decent room and very quiet. Unfortunately, we were given a smoking floor and the halls and room (and even sheets) had that smoke smell to them. The windows were large but really only offered a view of the surrounding buildings. Also, the pool is not as grand as the website photos. But it was a pleasant stay at a good location and for a decent price.

Nice location, within walking distance of major shops in downtown Sydney and the water.

There were no non-smoking rooms available, so we were put onto a smoking floor that definitely smelled like it the entire time.

• Shopping Tip : Within walking distance right up the street are lots of shops, restaurants, etc.

Overall, excellent. I'd definitely stay there again.

It's lightly floral scent from the first step in was extremely welcoming, and signaled what was sure to be a wonderful experience. The sheets were very comfortable. Everything was kept simple and clean. Pool, sauna, gym. Restaurant served great food. Eve's Place has great beer on tap!

Rooms do not provide tooth brush, tooth paste. So be sure to bring your own. Pool closes at 11pm which for many like myself, is a bit early since we're out doing touristy stuff.

• Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It's right next to Central station so there were buses going every which way. Excellent for sight seeing, eating out, walking around.

Mercure, Sydney is very conveniently located close to the Central Railway Station requiring only a short walk for visitors arriving by train or bus. The rooms and beds are comfortable, but the bathrooms provided only soap and shampoo in dispensers which are quite difficult for some people to manage, and no other toiletries were supplied. The reception and dining room staff were friendly and courteous, but the check in and out were rather slow.

One day pass for railway does not work for city tram and monorails.
