Staff, is just not meet the standard.
For example, I was wanted to extend my stay one more night, Front staff (Morning shift) gave me the price a price, on the other hand, (Night shift gave me an even higher price for the same type of room. He said this period is very busy time so we can sell the room up to maximum price "and if you don't want to pay much like that you have to find another hotel". In my point of view, the room is good and clean, and good location but not reasonable price. It will be good if they can deduct 15-20% of the price. And one more important thing, it is just about staff, they must be in standard that means every staff should give the same informations to every customers. And the staff should be more helpful rather than just sit down and said "I don't know" and point the finger to the board and you have to read it of find it by yourself.

The beds were comfortable and the showers and tolilets were kept very clean There was a bad smell in our room We enjoyed my stay in the Y Hyde Park Hotel. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space in our room. The was however a strange smell in our room which the only bad thing about this hotel. The staff were very nice to us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back there again.

The price was reasonable. dirty, smelly, dingy, tiny rooms, uncomfortable. The hotel smells, and I mean really smells - bad! It smells like mold, mildew, cigarette smoke and other unpleasant odors. It's rooms are small and uncomfortable. It's really run down and dingy now. I would not recommend this dump to anyone!

The Best Location, Super Clean, Extremely Friendly Staff & Fantastic Value Breakfast Left More to Desire The Y @ Hyde Park was perfect for our stay in Sydney. It had the best location, it was super clean, had an extremely friendly staff and an over all fantastic value. Its located right in the middle of all that Sydney has to offer for a 10 day stay. The walked to all adjoining neighborhoods with in 10 minutes & the Opera House in 20 minutes. 20 minute bus to Bondi Beach.

Good location - close to China Town, Sussex Street and Oxford Street. In other words, you can get access to shopping, food and nightlife very easily. The room is very small. Just enough for the bed and a small desk. TV is stored inside the cabinet to save place. There is no toilet inside in my room type. Considering the price and location, one can't complain too much. However, I may choice to upgrade the room with a private toilet if I have a chance to stay there again. It is not very convenient to share a common toilet with just one shower room.

The location is good. It's close to a bus stop and a train station. The bathroom is shared and the room is small. With the price, I can't complain more. The location is good. I can walk to China town within 10 mins and I can take either a bus or a train to everywhere. The receptionists are very helpful. You can ask for the info you need and they can also arrange tours for you to Blue Mountain, Hunter Valley and stuff. If you don't mind the shared bathroom, then you can consider staying here.

good location, good price We stayed in a double bed room which was offered for a quite good price. So we decided to stay in this hotel instead of searching a youth hostel. The comfort level was like in a hotel, however we had to share the bathroom. But it was no problem and it was clean. The breakfast (included in the price) was not a big one: cereals and bread and jam, coffe and tea. But at least we got breakfast. The location was very good. Evrything (the most sightseeing places) are within walking distance. We would stay at Y Hyde Park Hotel again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The harbour is quite close. Many sightseeing attractions are within walking distance (Sydney Tower, Opera, etc.)

The staff helped me secure the same room throughout my stay even though I had to book it with 2 websites. the bathrooms; are shared but cleaned all the time never was it dirty. the breakfast was basic but again good quality, fresh cold milk excellent choice of cereal and all the toast you can eat! I would definitely stay here again
Nightlife Tip : You can walk to Kings Cross (which felt safe at night) within 10 minutes

Great location (1.5km to Circular Quay, even shorter walk to Fish Market/Darling Harbour!), right next to Hyde Park, great a/c, very comfortable room! Walls were just a tad thin , the "lounge" on each floor is very small, and the free light continental breakfast could stand to be a bit more Location location location! What a great location, the nexus of everyplace you want to go! This hostel was such a great find. It is located next to hotels that would easily run you at least $100 a night. I stayed here 3 nights for less than $60 AUD a night (during the peak travel season too!). The staff was courteous, professional, and had none of those party-happy young hostel people you might expect.
Walls were just a tad thin (though everyone was mostly all quiet anyway, so no real worries here), the "lounge" on each floor is just a small ceiling mounted TV w/ 3 chairs around it, and the free light continental breakfast could stand to be a bit more (though it's enough to get you started in the day). These negatives aside, they did have a laundry room and I never had to wait for the communal shower. Towels were replaced daily, too. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this place!

Location, price, service. Bathroom design, cramped facilities within the bathroom. The central location of your hotel and the information available at reception made our holiday in Sydney a hassle free pleasure. Being so close to all landmarks allowed us to walk to the opera house, botanical gardens and darling harbor and enjoy many other sights we would have otherwise missed. The service was of a high standard. Observing your check in staff while waiting for our lift on check out we saw many instances of the staff helping people from several countries where English is not the base language. Thank you for a pleasant stay I will be recommending your hotel to any one intending to visit Sydney.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A walk to the opera house will take you through many sight seeing areas.

We were staying here on Xmas Eve and considering the time of year we paid a really reasonable price. The staff were really friendly and helpful, even phoning tourist attractions for us on Xmas day to see if they were open.
Breakfast was basic but great that it was included, although the dining room did tend to get very overcrowded.
The rooms were fine - clean and with good facilities - tea and coffee, well stocked bathroom and fridge.

The location of the Y hotel was ideal. All major Sydney attractions are either within walking distance or easily accessible on public transport. There are great bus routes right outside the hotel and the train station is a 2 minute walk away.
The free breakfast was a nice touch although the breakfast room was always very crowded.
The rooms were basic but absolutely fine for the price. The advertised cafe was closed the whole time we were there except at breakfast time For a budget hotel/hostel in the heart of Sydney, the Y hotel is absolutely perfect. The room was basic but comfortable, although the tv was at a very odd angle and made it really difficult to watch. (minor gripe though).
The staff were really friendly and helpful and always willing to help with any queries (even phoning places on Christmas day to see if they were open).
The breakfast was basic but good although it did amuse us that hotel guests got "full breakfast" consisting of cereal, toast, tea/coffee and fruit juice and hostel guests got the "basic breakfast" which was exactly the same except for the cereal.
A good stay though and we would return to the Y hotel if we went back to Sydney.
Hotel Feature Tip : the staff are very knowledgeable and are happy to act as your tourist guides. Ask them for their advice on where to go/what to do etc
