Nice lodge

This is not a 2 star hotel.
However, the staff are very friendly and they run a decent backpacker hostel here.
A fair number of people come here from Bamboo in new town on Viti Levu.
The kava rounds are nightly, and the guys are very warm and friendly. Good guitar skills too.
Beware a few costs - meals are 20 dollars ( a bit steep) and transfer back to ferry jetty is 10 dollars.

Backpacker lodge with kava ceremony

Its a backpacker lodge where you can meet people. Theres always tea and coffee. The room was very basic. We had a private room which other times might serve as dorm, too. They have wifi which is rare for Fiji. The staff was friendly and helpful and every night they played music and sang and drank kava with other locals and the hostel guests which was very pretty and a nice experience. They serve dinner at a good price, big portions. The verandah and couches and all are nice but could be kept a little better and cleaner.
Getting to Taveuni can be a bit tricky. It is easiest by plane, Matei airport is very close and there are cheap flight centers which sell flights for not much more than the ferry price. Matei airport is close to Tuvununu, 5 minutes by car. When we checked out there happened to be a driver around at Tuvununu that was right away ready to drive us for a five Fiji dollars.

This is a backpacker hotel. DOn't expect luxury. The room was clean. There is no hot water and electricity is on from 18h to 23h everyday, That's it. But, the dinner is great, the staff so friendly.
If you want a high-end resort, that's not the place. But is you want a very nice and friendly place, you need to consider this.
