In the first room we were put in, the bed was broken. However, once we reported this, we were swiftly switched to a different and larger room. Over all, the rooms were very nice, clean, well kept, and modern looking; plus, we were centrally located in the city. The hotel could do with some carpeting in the passageways, to help deafen then sound of people coming and going. Our room was directly across from the elevator and some visitors were very noisy.

"DISGUSTING" would never reccomend

This hotel was DISGUSTING... hated staying there would have been better anywhere else. Room smelt awful when I arrived so I went out hoping to find it better when I returned. Noticed a massive brown stain in the hallway (coming from the bathroom attached to the room i was in) which looked like it had been there for a while, entered my room & started vomiting as the smell was unbearable! Sewage pipe was obviously leaking! I rung the front desk to be told that they couldnt find me another room I had to insist on being moved which was fustrating at 1.30am. Got moved to a cold horrible room, the heaters wheels fell off when i pulled it out. Slept and left asap in the morning. No apology nothing. HATED the whole "experience"

I did not like the room. The room had a paraplegic toilet and shower with no vanity. This should have been highlighted in the advertising for this room. It was not a standard room in my opinion. There was also a cord running across the entrance to the bathroom - a potential hazard.

rooms were cold, small and not well cleaned. There was a cold draught under the room door, only a small portable oil heater which did not suffice, dirt and stains in the sink and shower.

there doesn't really appear to be too many good value hotels in auckland. the auckalnd city hotel represents the best i could find and i decided to extend my stay here another night. you can pay a little less than you might at this place and stay in a single room at a backpackers place but you will have to share a bathroom. that's what auckland has to offer apparently. this place is fine- but the internet is weak and you only get an hours worth for free so don't be fooled by the free- wireless icon. clean room, no frills, nice staff.

ok hotel in central auckland- not too far from downtown attractions and transportation connections. basic but clean rooms, pleasant service at the front desk. left luggage service.
free internet but only for an hour with a throttle to control your downloading- so not as good of a deal as it might appear to be. overall, a decent place to stay but not exceptional.

I got a wonderful bargain when booking a room at Auckland City Hotel, and I really enjoyed the time staying here.
The only thing that bothered me was the distance between downtown and the hotel. It's a little bit going up hill while going back to the hotel.
To sum up, the hotel and ground floor restaurant were fabulous for holidays.

very clean and fresh room, perfect for a overnight stay while visiting the theatre. room service for breakfast was a treat!staff were very attentive to our needs. we were impressed with the lack of traffic noise in our room, probably because it was on the rear wall so worth thinking about when booking. thank you.
