Absolutely, without any shadow of a doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed in for a number of reasons. The hotel itself is beautiful, small with an amazingly homely feel filled with wonderful art deco touches. Upon arrival, you are personally shown to your room by one of the charming staff. Our room was just perfect, huge rainfall shower, massive bath and a colossal bed. Little touches such as a welcome letter really added to the overall experience. The room itself was very stylish without being contrived, superb bed and the turndown service (I've never experienced it before) made me squeal with delight.
Guests are invited to join the host for pre-dinner drinks in the private library, a very lovely experience, with again very warm hosts and a complimentary drink to boot! Onto the restaurant, food was delicious, attentive staff, amazing food and yummy wine in a lovely courtyard location.
The library hosts an honesty bar, which we utilised after our dinner, and I can say it’s easily the best night I've spent in a hotel. Surrounded by gorgeous furniture, playing music from the large collection sipping a G&T while reading alongside my equally happy boyfriend was blissful.
We met again, a thoroughly charming host (manager) the following night in the library, who took her time to sit and speak with us for quite some time. She recommended one of her favourite Vietnamese restaurants for our last night in Auckland - which we dint regret. The best dining experience we had in NZ overall.
I've racked my brains for anything which I would change, or anything I was unhappy with (as has my boyfriend) and I can't think of a single thing. Truly, a wonderful hotel which is very clearly managed so so well, perfect staff and beautiful surroundings. Thank you everyone at the Hotel deBrett for making our final days in NZ magical. I hope to be back :)
