Good room in a great location

I was traveling with my wife so needed a combination of location for shopping / restaurants and being able to work. The Rydges fitted this very well. The room was good, the staff were polite and the facilities good enough. On the downside the internet was the most expensive I've ever encountered anywhere in the world (this seems to be typical of Auckland for some reason?), parking is expensive and not so convenient and the room was not made up during our stay.

Left my cell phone in the car as it was getting parked by the hotel staff and it was delived to my room 30 mins later.
The aircon is high teck but slow to opperate eg to get cold or hot fast. Was I total shambles on morning of checking out, one of the parking staff had by all accounts misplaced a car key and every one was backed up (20 people)waiting to leave for there plains. Not a good site we were lucky to be at the front of the que when it happened but still had to wait 15 mins for our car at a cost of $30 a night parking. All in all the place was good value for the money spent. Also had to call 4 times over 4 hours to get a broken light in the bathroom replaced.

Good value for money. Hotel is relatively new. Clean and sanitised rooms. Very accessible to shops and restaurants. Public parking beside the hotel is available for the guests; however, very limited valet parking service for the guests. Rooms are not that big but clean and smells clean. Check-in is easy and fast. Will definitely recommend the hotel for weekend travellers who are just wanting a quiet break for the weekend.

rydges auckland is a great hotel. i choose to stay here everytime i am in auckland for work. its a great hotel and you really get your money's worth- great location, nice and friendly staff, and lovely hotel and facilities. definitely a must for all travellers- leisure or business.
