We had a flying visit, arriving in time to go out again to our concert (which was brilliant!. We came straight back to the hotel as we were farewelling someone who had parked in the hotel carpark, hoping to have a snack and a drink in the comfort of the bar, but by the time we got there, at about 11, it was all closed up. A little disappointing, as there wasn't a lot of room or seating in our room to relax and unwind.

Clean tidy hotel. Very accessible to transport.
Large swimming pool and nice sauna. Very close to shops and restaurants. Beach within a 5 minute walk.

Excellent reception service. Room had a magnificent view of the Auckland harbour and city landmarks. Room very clean and tidy.
Car parking in a secured area. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Restaurant Tip:
Book early as the better restaurants are well patronized to full capacity.

Great location with wonderful views
location - close to beach and shopping yet quick access to central city, modern and clean.

i booked this hotel for my two 25 & 33 yr old sons from canada to stay - they were coming to visit relatives and see auckland after 10 years. they are particular in where they would stay - i wanted to choose a hotel i thought would suit them. they liked the hotel alot - great location, close to beach, shops, restaurants and pubs in the suburb of takapuna, yet close to downtown city centre. also close to motorways going south and north - this was useful for them as they rented a car to visit north of auckland and the motorway was close by. as well, the hotel was clean and modern with all the amenities. we noticed that this hotel can be seen from almost all locations around auckland, standing tall in the distance. i know that they, and i, will choose the spencer on byron hotel from now on, whenever we are visiting auckland.

It is a large hotel, mostly full of tours. There was not a lot of ambiance, but the room was really big and clean with a good view from the big windows
