Quiet
Good Amenities
15 minute walk to CBD
Hagley Park nearby (Botanical gardens, golf & walks)
Breakfast Buffet
Pleasant Bar
Good restaurant
Easy parking
I have noticed whenever I book through Agoda, I am given one of the older rooms which have not been updated, and my room request is never upheld. No complimentary newspaper and fewer room provisions e.g. no shower cap, etc.
Whenever I visit Christchurch I only ever stay in this hotel. The main reason is I like the area it is in and to walk around the nearby suburbs as there are pleasant gardens and homes.
If you are after a quiet peaceful hotel this is an excellent choice. It is only 15 minutes walk across Hagley Park in the centre of Christchurch to most amenities and is also nearby to Riccarton, which has restaurants and a large shopping complex. It is peaceful, the rooms are well appointed, the buffet breakfast, bar and restaurant are all good. It is in its own private quiet grounds very close to the well known garden Mona Vale, which has a great rose garden, a cafe and lovely grounds.

Great location on far side of Hagley Park from Christchurch Centre.
Great location. There is a free minibus service to the city for those not wishing to walk. Hotel itself has lovely gardens, a small but very clean outdoor pool and excellent restaurant.
Staff really friendly and allowed early check in (our arrival time was dictated by our flights to New Zealand).
Great quality at reasonable price.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Lovely gardens nearby in Hagley Park

The room was comfortable enough for its category without being either overwhelming or disappointing in any specific area. There is a nice garden which creates a pleasing atmosphere. However the pool is too small for the number of guests and is easily overcrowded. The location is about a 20 min. walk to the town center but since it's through a big park I see that more as a plus than a minus. My only big deception was with the restaurant. It has an atmosphere that is fine for breakfast but not really suitable for dinner. The quality of service and food is also not what a four star hotel should be offering.
