Friendly efficient staff; Upgrade to newly refurbished room; close to airport ( we had an early morning flight to catch); free shuttle bus to and from airport; free drink on arrival; free concessionary bus ticket to town centre. We stayed at the Commodore only 1 night as we were in transit from Queenstown to Sydney and we needed to be at the airport at 5am on the day following our arrival. A free telephone call from the airport on our arrival produced a shuttle mini-bus to take us the short distance to the hotel so that we were in our room within 20 minutes of making the call. We arrived around 7pm and wanted to see something of Christchurch so after our complimentary drink we caught the bus into town and did not therefore get chance to sample the restaurant at the hotel and cannot comment on the food.
The room we had was apparently newly refurbished and was an upgrade from our original booking. It was a large airy room with twin Queen size beds, nicely decorated with very nice en-suite facilities. During our short experience of the hotel we could not fault it or the staff in any way and would definitely choose to stay there again if we are in the area.
Restaurant Tip : We ate at the Raj Mahal Indian restaurant in Manchester Street. The food was good and the staff friendly and attentive. Washroom could be better though.
