some of them are really very old with old and bad quality furniture. Not a decent place to stay The one in Rotorula & Queenstown are very old. Will not stay again . It was better after we upgraded in Queenstown & add $40 each night.

Location was very central.
Quality Bed and duvet bedding was very comfortable.
Breakfast buffet was just right, not too much. Parking was valet only, $15 per day, but not unreasonable considering the very central location. Overall clean and stylish rooms. The hotel is centrally located just one block off of the city center and square, just next to a tram stop, and steps from the punting docks. The comfortable beds, large wall mount TV with channel selection, central location and helpful, attentive staff made this an excellent choice. We stayed at Rydges in other NZ cities and would surely choose Christchurch Rydges again.
Restaurant Tip : We dined at a nearby restaurant, The Viaduct, and were very disappointed with the service and the meal. Waited 40 minutes for our starter, a bread/dip plate; and another 20 minutes for our main course, caeser salad and 2 fish & chips. Look elsewhere unless simply planning to sit at the attractive bar area.

Wonderful location. At the heart of Christchurch, next to Cathedral Square and close to all city attractions. Needs better management. Lost our luggage; did not clean our room properly. Rydges is in a great location right next to Cathedral Square in the heart of Christchurch. The hotel looked fairly new and modern. It was an easy reference for tour operators ( picking us up to join a local tour)and for taxis drivers.
Service, though, leaves a lot to be desired. For example, in cleaning our room, the cleaning crew forgot to replace used-up toilet paper, thus requiring us to ask for toilet paper in the middle of the night. Another example, we checked out a few hours before our flight and had to leave our luggage with the front desk. Later, when we were to be picked up for the airport, they couldn't find our luggage and couldn't contact the bellboy who had checked our luggage. After a half-hour search, they found our luggage in the room of another guest who had just checked in. They brought our luggage up to his room and left his luggage in the lobby.
