Rydges is in a great location right next to Cathedral Square in the heart of Christchurch. The hotel looked fairly new and modern. It was an easy reference for tour operators ( picking us up to join a local tour)and for taxis drivers. Service, though, leaves a lot to be desired. For example, in cleaning our room, the cleaning crew forgot to replace used-up toilet paper, thus requiring us to ask for toilet paper in the middle of the night. Another example, we checked out a few hours before our flight and had to leave our luggage with the front desk. Later, when we were to be picked up for the airport, they couldn't find our luggage and couldn't contact the bellboy who had checked our luggage. After a half-hour search, they found our luggage in the room of another guest who had just checked in. They brought our luggage up to his room and left his luggage in the lobby.

Wonderful location. At the heart of Christchurch, next to Cathedral Square and close to all city attractions.

Needs better management. Lost our luggage; did not clean our room properly.
