After staying in dozens of hotels in the past 6 months I can say with assurance that this hotel is a destination and is a raison d'etat in itself. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and your privacy is assured.The provision of gowns and quality fixtures makes you feel that you can luxuriate. The promise is not lived up unfortunately at this hotel and your room is about it! The restaurant is threatening in its quiet and quests should be able to choose from a buffet for breakfast. The pool area is a delight but it is often too cold to swim which means this area needs covering or heating. The spa is an external piece of antique furniture that is comical in a hotel that boasts this many stars. Don't get me wrong this is a wonderful experience but you have to get past the front desk staff and the inability of anyone to attend to your needs.

The bush Chalet is a treat and is a destination and not a simple stay over. The atmosphere is serene and calm and it is perfect to restore the nerves.

The front desk is a nightmare. The promised massage is subject to appointment only and is unavailable therefore the hotel only offers accomodation unless you are well prepared in advance. Dinner is a treat but you need to do the work to understand the costs and availability. The front desk staff are officious and simply unwelcoming and very unhelpful.The spa is a mistake and it cheapens this hotel just as the bowl of fruit at the front foyer which was rotten and inedible paints a sad picture; Small details that effect a return visit. Remember it is the front of the hotel that captures the customer and engages them for a return visit.

• Travel tip : The tip is be prepared to enjoy your room and the serenity that comes with it but don't expect any nightlife or local sightseeing. The nearest geographical atraction beyond the 'beach' is over one hour drive and that is subject to the tides.This is a summer destination.
