Cosy home with an added touch of warmth from hosts
8
We checked into the lodge for 3 nights which served as the base for our snowboarding trip to Cardrona and it was the best choice we had made for the entire trip.
We were firstly welcomed by Lynn who conducted a short tour of her beautiful and well kept home. And from the viewing, you would be easily be impressed by the clean and organised state, not to mention that there are many added thoughtful touches like cookies, fresh tomatoes and beverages are always available in the kitchen.
The outdoor spa was an added bonus especially for us after hitting the slopes for the whole day. The amazing sunset view or the night sky took our breadths away as we sipped our hot tea while feeling the tension eased away in the hot tub.
The hosts Lynn and Murray paid attention of little details in our conversation. Over breakfast, we mentioned that we hadn't had a chance to see a Kiwi bird yet and shortly after, a cute kiwi soft toy was placed on our bed neatly made up of course. That sent tons of warmth into our hearts immediately.
Location was indeed wonderful. If you are looking for a place with a little character and accessible to town, Wanaka Springs Lodge makes an excellent choice. Not only was the walk backed by picturesque views, you might even spot trouts swimming upstream right next to where you strolled.
The place is definitely worth recommending and you could affirm it that many of their guests choose to come back again and again. I will be one of them next.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you are contemplating whether Queenstown or Wanaka is a better location for your ski trips to Cardrona, we recommend to stay at Wanaka which is slightly shorter up to Cardrona. For travelers who are more used to city driving, be mindful that the drive up to Cardrona is not for the faint hearted.
