Small room, obviously not busy but still put on non city side, right above intersection into hotel (lights and noise), small TV. Went with Agoda cos it was the only way to be able to get 3 in the room , the same room on other website would only allow 2 and as it was me and the two kids...sleeping room only.
Hotel Feature Tip : Other websites have the same room for the same price with breakfast incl, free valet parking (cost me an additional $18) and free upgrade...so if just a couple use another site or another hotel.

Great location, warm, clean and good size rooms Very expensive internet access. You must purchase 2 hrs at a time and it runs from the time you start. On top of that there is a data charge. For 10 minutes over a day and a night I spent 30NZ. I enjoyed my stay because it was warm and easy to walk places from the hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip : When in NZ buy a wireless stick $100 (vodafone)and pay $40 for a top up. It is a cheaper option.

Good hotel for hosting our conference- facilities, food and drink, location helped considerably. I booked two nights through Agoda, but the hotel staff maintained that I had only booked one night. This caused unnecessary delay and confusion during my check-in. Also, the cost of internet access from within is excessively pricey. Overall, I would defintely use the James Cook hotel again. It is a good conference venue and looks after delegates very well. An added advantage is the easy access to Wellington city centre. I would urge that the James Cook staff check they are familiar with the online booking system insofar as bookings are correctly transcribed onto the hotel computer system.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Reserve Bank of New Zealand museum which is located at the bottom the Terrace (5 mins walk).

One of the few accommodation choices in New Zealand that still offer a number of smoking rooms. Various services (i.e.lobby bar) shut down over the new year period. Tidy hotel in the heart of Wellington. Very comfortable beds, all the usual services you'd expect from a hotel of this quality.
