Disappointing for the money

Villa Melina is a nice modern architecturally designed b&b. We had a room which had beautiful sea views.You can pop out the back gate onto the foreshore to access some great beach and hilltop walks.

We booked this b&b because a couple of reviews (2010 & 2011) mentioned great breakfasts. The breakfast was disappointing. It is a basic continental breakfast, complete with tired croissants. The room menu showed a full breakfast. This was not on offer when we stayed. asked us to pre-order the night before and the choice was continental with limited options including cheese and ham. The cheese turned out to be processed cheese (why when NZ has great cheese?) with its plastic wrapping still on and the ham was thin supermarket style packaged slices. We have stayed at B&B's around the world and this would be our most disappointing in terms of the breakfast. For this money a full breakfast should be automatic and the coffee should be more plentiful. However, if you are keen walkers then you are in for a treat - there are great beach and hill top walking tracks to keep you occupied for hours. The tracks are accessible from the back gate of the property which is a real bonus. I sense a B&B that has lost its mojo and trading on its architectural sensibilities. Of all the B&B's in Wellington it is the one of the most expensive and does not deliver.

A superb hotel

Excellent hospitality and view

It was the finest hotel we've ever stayed. Staff are fine people and offered excellent hospitality.
