Disapointed by hotspring and expensive restaurant

clean, location, big room
Good point: -price correct -location (near Togendai center, but need to pay bus 240JPY/pax) -room are BIG for Japan Bad point: -limited restaurant choice... and SCAM restaurant... (try to dinner before you go there... the price are OVERrated... for a low quality...) -nothing around... no shuttle bus to bring you around... only 'paying bus' -bad hotspring... only 2 baths... not well kept... clean but old... not so comfortable... don't go there for hotspring... Final word: -I will not go there again

А three-days stay

Location, management, clearness
Hotel passed its best years, but it's absolutely clean, rooms are spaceous, comfortable bed, good room service even though in Agoda it's listed as 'no room service', nice Shiseido amenities, a few English tv channels, good locations if you want to be surrounded with mountains, really picturesque views. Easy to novigate through an officiant bus system, ecpessially if you've got Hakone 2/3days pass (can buy at Odawara st.), close to Asi Lake with its cruise, near Gotemba premium outlet, and if you're lucky Mt.Fuji will come out of the clouds. Excellent Pola museum in the area with an amazing collection of world-class paintings. Hotel's restaurant was a bit expensive, and the food looked more like in a fine-dine restaurant. Hotel has its own free of charge onsens for in-house guests, both indoors and outdoor, it's an experience you don't want to miss. And at the end, want to express my thanks to Mr.Kinji Yokora personally, who helped me to find the medicines, extended our stay for free, and on his private car helped us to get to the train station when all the busses were canceled due to the weather conditions!

Hotel in tranquil surroundings

Spacious and clean room, quiet and tranquil surroundings
Booked a twin room with lake view. It was very spacious with comfortable beds. Couldn't really see much of the lake as it seemed rather distant. Hotel did not provide any complimentary bottles of mineral water - a negative point although they did put up a sign saying the tap water is safe for drinking. Hotel gave us Y1000 per pax voucher to use for dinner but we didn't use them as we thought of dining near Hakone Yumoto station and they also told us we had to make reservations beforehand if we wanted the seasonal set dinner (they have two sets - one at Y2,500 for grilled fish and another Y3,500/3,800 for steak)- kinda inconvenient. On hindsight, not a bad deal as not many eating options at the station. The shops at Hakone Yumoto closed very early - around 6p.m. We settled at a Jap restaurant for dinner eventually - cost us Y3,400 for two pax for a simple tofu set meal and a braised pork meal. The hotel is about 30 mins ride from the station. If you don't have the Hakone 2-day pass, it would cost Y980 per trip from the station to the hotel. The good thing is both Tozan and Odakyu buses stop at the hotel. The Odakyu highway bus at the stop across the hotel takes you directly to Gotemba station - station where you can take the free shuttle bus to the premium outlets. Fujikyu buses to Mt Fuji 5th station and Lake Kawaguchiko can also be taken from the bus-stops on the opp side of the JR Gotemba station.

so well looked after

staff - from the moment we arrived, they couldn't do enough for us. From the reception to the Humming Cafe and bar they were fabulous.

The hotel was amazingly nice. The location should have been stated more precisely however. Such as average travel times to the more popular tourist sites.
Beautiful and helpful

decent old-fashioned hotel with good onsen

clean, good onsen, staff are so nice, polite and helpful
As I just stayed for 1 night in this hotel, I can't give too much comment. But overall, this hotel is quite clean, room is big enough in term of size with good view, onsen is clean and nice, and all the staff is very nice, polite and helpful. My concern about this hotel is just their old-fashioned building (the room key is still using conventional key instead of access/key card) and the location of this hotel is very far from Odamaru station. Luckily, this hotel is quite clean, and there is a bus stop with obvious name(Palace Hotel Hakone-mae) just in front of the Hotel entrance, thus the access to Hakone city area, Togendai station or Gotemba Premium Outlet is pretty easy. In conclusion, this is a good 3-star hotel and recommended for family traveler who do not mind to take more time to reach city area.
