OK hotel and good service

quiet area compared to downtown
6.3
As usual with Yangon all the hotels are often booked up and/or over priced. The Panda hotel was mid range but the room I was in was very large with good views of the city and river. The room had a separate living area and bedroom so I really had no complaints at all regarding comfort. You will normally need to grab a taxi from the hotel to reach the city center or other sights unless you are feeling athletic or in need of a 30 minute walk (and a few dodgy road crossings). Staff were also very friendly and spoke good English.
Travel tip: Taxi drivers appear pretty decent honest folk in Yangon. 2,000 Kyat is the flat rate to the city centre from the Panda but if you are grabbing a taxi back again from a more expensive hotel such as Traders, some will try and add on an extra 1,000. Feel free to haggle and the concierge's will often get involved to help. Taxi's from the airport are about 8,000 Kyat and around 5,000 going back.

the hotel is good and price is affortable compara with other downtown hotel. room is clean and without mosquito which is big surprise to us. because the window is locked. only one matter make us unhappy, for usd exchange. 1.after get some changes of usd from counter, but some usd looks old and can not payment for hotel's expense. 2. small usd's exchange is lower than big usd money which can not accept.
Restaurant Tip: good chinese flavor

Friendly and helpful staff, clean room. When we need to leave the hotel for an early trip before the restaurant opens for breakfast, they are willing to pack us a breafast box. Though it's just bread, an egg and a banana, but they're enthusiastic to help and inform us in advance what they could do for us.The bathroom shower might be a little old but clean.

Very simple and a bit dated hotel in 60s style

on a quiet street

The hotel is like so many on Myanmar in this price category. You get the basics of hot water, air conditioning, TV, mini bar. However the standard is well below fro what you expect in other parts of the world. The general condition of the room is acceptable with furnishings being on the cheap side of cheap. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was plain but acceptable.

Panda rates now at the same for similar category hotels in Yangon. Have stayed here numerous times and would repeat even if rates increased again. What was largely the domain of business travellers (PRC mostly) some tour groups have appeared. They seem kind of out of place in the non-descript and dated Panda, especially that its location from points of interest is a bit beyond their mid-aged, overweight and out-of-shape walking capabilities. A good thing about this Hotel is that it is kept up with fresh-paint, an improved breakfast and is clean, with spacious rooms. Management seems to care. Negative thing is Chinese clientele who act like they're in a dormitory with room doors open, going in and out of others at all hours, talking loud, and of course smoking everywhere.
Restaurant Tip: several nearby are amongst best options in Central Yangon.

Fit for the Purpose

Close to work and the city centre. Good breakfast. Close to attractions. Quiet. Close to restaurants.

i stayed in this hotel for almost seven weeks while working near a unversity campus on pyai road. the rooms are large and adequate to do work in. they are equipped with a bar fridge and cable television (with hbo). staff are friendly and efficient in carrying out their duties. there are plenty of restaurants near by. the best is padonmar, roughly 15 minutes walk. there are also two shopping malls one tot the north and one tothe south, all of which have eateries. close to the hotel however are ykko, new doreen and a chinese restaurant so there is no problem of finding something to eat.
Restaurant Tip: In the centre of the city are three eateries. In sight of Traders Hotel and down from Scott Market is the Red Rose (Thai) Restaurant. Has a great range of Thai dishes for reasonable prices. Around the corner from Traders is Nila Biryani which is great for biryani and falooda. At the back of Scott Market is a Shan restaurant open only during the day which has excellent dumplings. For the best coffee go to Zawgyi House -Gourmand Restaurant at Scott Market

Great location and nice service

Not far from everything

they have a money exchange service at a lower rate than that of the bank's, but if you want to exchange a lot of money, take a taxi for 1200 kyts to summit...hotel. they have two money exchange agents who offer a better rate than bank's, (not at the hotel counter).
