Nice island but a little far from Male

great house reef
Spend three nights at Park Hyatt. Pros: Great snorkeling - Saw an octopus and shark right while snorkeling outside our water villa. Saw 2 turtles around 100m away at deeper waters. Quiet and private - First 2 days were really quiet, and we did not see many guests around. Friendly staff - less our personal host who does not seem to warm up to us, the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. Cons: Distance - 1hr wait at domestic airport + 1hr domestic flight + 1hr speedboat ride = 3hrs of traveling before reaching hotel. Air-conditioning - AC at bedroom sector was not able to cool down the room (bathroom sector was alright). Was told that the hot wind and direct sunlight meant that the room can't be cooled in the day. Flimsy reason as room was not cool at night too. Did not swap room as we were kind of settled by then. Food - average food. The Maldivian curries were not bad.

Beautiful hotel

Beautiful island, very remote and unspoiled, excellent snorkelling and diving
We had a wonderful stay in Alila - supposed to stay 5 days but loved it so much extended to 10! (And I will say Agoda were very helpful with this - able to do the whole thing through their online chat, very helpful). We took an island pool villa which suited us nicely - it's right on the beach which has great snorkeling, so you can go snorkel in the sea and then wash off in the fresh water pool. The main room is large and comfortable with a good flat screen tv and home theater system with an ipod dock (wish they had speakers in the bathroom though). Beautiful bathroom and then a really nice outdoor shower area. The real highlight for us though was the diving. They have a great team of people at the dive center who took us on some great adventures. Many days it was just us diving so between dives the crew would take us to uninhabited islands to explore and open up a coconut! It was really a wonderful experience. This time we went just the two of us to celebrate our 10th anniversary but we are already planning our return vacation with the children! Beautiful place

Absolutely go there!!!!!!!!

Very friendly staff Beautiful surrounding, sea, beach and resort itself Good food, especially the danish pastries in the morning Beautiful rooms, with stunning view
We stayed here for 5 days, and we really enjoyed. As soon as you arrive in Male, the staff take care of you. It take a while before you reach the resort, but it is absolutely worth it!!! You have your own personal assistant who takes care of you on the island. By the way, all the staff is very well trained and very friendly. If you want to they will leave you alone or keep you company and have nice stories about the (history) of Maldives. We had the Aquavilla, and it was beautiful. Although it looked like the beach villa's were also perfect. For the advantage of the Aquavilla is that you can jump in the sea and then you are immediately above the house reef. This reef is one of the most healthy ones I have ever seen. You only need to swim 25 meters, and then you already have the sharks, eagle rays, dolphins!! and more. There are 2 restaurants, and both serves high quality food. We like the Maldivian style restaurant most, because of all the different spices and flavors. They have a wide choice of wines from all over the world. Breakfast in the morning was also very good. Watch out of the pastries, they were too good -) I would absolutely recommend Alila to everybody. Although it is a new resort, you will not notice it, except from the clean and well maintained property. When we were here, there was no construction work or anything.
