hotel comments
Staff was not knowledgeable about Shanghai. While they spoke English, they often did not understand. Breakfast staff was rude and unhelpful. The location was superb and the facilities very charming

Bad Experience: 5 stars hotel, 1 star service
Junior staff is untrained. Manager is unprofessional, bad attitude, and no customer service at all. It is a pity that this beautiful hotel with wonderful decor and valuable antiques is run and surrounded by unprofessional and bad serviced staff.

A boutique hotel on a quiet street
Boutique hotel with a nice decor (original spiral staircase), convenient location in a walking distance to the commercial buildings and shopping centres of Jiang An District, good value
I was there for business and I appreciate that the hotel is located near the business district but on a quiet side street, which is a nice distinction from most brand-name hotels in the area. I also appreciate the courtyard in front that creates a good setback from the street. I stayed in a room that is fine for one person and has a huge bathroom, but I took a peek of the bigger rooms (with a separate living area) and they looked much nicer.

The room are clean, Duplexed, nice bathroom.
Breakfast was a joke. Difficult to find as there's hardly any signs. Quite street though.

Modern Chinese Comfort
Location, Service, Room
The Pei Mansion Hotel is centrally located close to major multi-story hotels, but in its own few stories stands head and shoulders above all the rest. The hotel is a converted Chinese mansion that has retained all of its former charm and distinctiveness while incorporating modern amenities to ensure the comfort of the modern guest: the bedroom was gorgeous and the bathroom divine. We would certainly return and highly recommend Pei Mansions.
