Staff don't speak English

Location is hard to find. When we arrived, staff don't speak English so it was a bit difficult to communicate with them. Rooms are so small, they don't even have the door for the toilet. But the price is okay, what do you expect for?
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: At nite try the river cruise, very good views of the Pearl Oriental Tower.

Tiny room but close to the bund.

(Longish) walk to the bund.
The hotel is a (longish) walk from the bund - no problem for those who like to walk. It is also a longish walk from the metro. The surroundings are somewhat old but there are a couple of convenience stores right next door, which was good. The room was tiny, expect no space to walk around once you put your bags down on the minimal floor space. Staff did not speak any English, so expect no help with planning for local transport or sightseeing.

Small rooms and no toilet doors

Good price
When i arrived, the receptionist have no clue what rooms was booked and they had to call their manager to check as he was off. And the manager itself don't even know what room was book which i can understand since they have so many ppl booking every day but at least the instructions have to be clear. Then they showed me rooms that was too small or a bigger room and told me that i had to pay the extra if they have check and confirm the rooms i book was of smaller size. I had to agree as the smaller room was so small and the toilet is without doors. It was okay for me as i was with my partner but it was not okay for my friend as they were not a couple. Then you will see call cards with call girl numbers on it slip into our room everyday.
Shopping Tip: Must go place to shop for souvenirs and knicks knacks. Not the usual mall and designer goods. Tai Kang Road with old residential converted to commercial shops selling arts, crafts, souvenirs and drinking place. Dong Tai Road curio shopping.

Got what we paid for

New bedding
It was difficult to find both walking and by taxi. The room stank of smoke despite being a 'non-smoking' hotel. There was damp and mold up the walls. The internet connection was awful. On the good side the bedding was new and the staff friendly and helpful.

Good value

Price was good
Hard to find but really good value. The hotel is an easy walk to the Bund and there are a lot of great little restaurants all around. The staff were very helpful and happy to assist as much as they could. Make sure you print out address and directions in chinese for the taxi drivers.

Small rooms, but ok for a night or two

Ok budget hotel
Very small rooms, but ok for a night or two. Fairly comfortable despite the size. The hotel is pretty far from the metro, about a 15 minute walk and was difficult for cab drivers to find. The bathroom has no door, just a curtain. It's a good place if you want something cheap for a short stay.

A Bit Seedy

Street food outside
The room is small but well designed. However with no window not even onto a corridor itfeels like a cell. It is not dirty but never feels clean. Feels seedy as everytime you go out there is a card under your door an the local street walker hangs outside. Even the staff with good English can‘t provide decent directions and initially finding nearest underground not easy.
Hotel Feature Tip: Outside is small night market and it is excellent. Some food there does compensate for other sort falls.

Hotel Feature Tip: from nearby wusong road get bus 19 two stops to tiantong rd metro. buses are regular and only 2y.
