lovely design hotel

friendly front desk, lovely design, convenient public transportation
The hotel is not located in the city centre, so the neighbourhood is pretty quiet. Metro station is about 100 metres away. No shuttle bus from the hotel, so if you wanna go to the airport, take a cab or catch the airport shuttle in the city centre. The front desk is friendly, especially the night shift. Shower is really really really powerful. Lovely design, not much to complain, while not enough to be "amazingly" good.

definitely not a 4-star hotel!

the free coffee and tea facilities in the lobby and the complimentary bottle of water and the 2 apples in our room.
we always book 4-star hotels when we travel, but this was, by far, the worst 4-star hotel we ever stayed in! we booked it based on its location and the many good reviews it had, which is something i really don't understand. we thought the hotel was recently renovated (at least that's what we understood and the pictures looked nice too), but upon our arrival, we soon realized that nothing was what it seemed. on our floor it smelled like mold, which they tried to mask with some freshener, while keeping the temperature very low. all the doors were white, but with obvious dirty fingerprints all over them. our room was average size, but the bathroom was extremely small. so small, that you had to close the door to be able to get into the bathtub. when unpacking, we noticed that the dressing drawer had probably never been cleaned, as it had dust everywhere, and even bits of hair from the previous clients, together with all the dirty fingerprints on its 2 doors. the temperature in the room was very low at night and no heating. we were told to use the provided blanket if we're cold, because heating only works during winter. the so-called "double bed" was in fact made up of two twin beds with 2 single mattresses lined together, which meant that during the night one of us would end up between the mattresses, which was really uncomfortable. the window had a filter, so we had no view, and it couldn't be opened wide. there was dust everywhere and visible signs of rust in the bathroom. the walls were thin, so it was very noisy, especially in the mornings. on the night before we left, the persons in the next room probably had an early flight, as we could hear them packing and showering between 3 and 5 am. every morning, we'd hear the cleaning lady slam the doors, vacuum clean and so on. breakfast was unorganised, it lacked diversity, and it definitely wasn't a 4-star one. overall, it was the worst spent ever! i don't think it can get worse than this for a 4-star hotel!

a good 4 star hotel in Barcelona downtown

Stylish design, big room and close to underground.
I am surprised at their stylish check-in area, which is so cosy and relax. A bit small but no complaint at this 4-star level in Barcelona. The room is quite spacious and the mini bar is FREE! High speed internet is a must for me and it doesn't upset me at all at this hotel. Just 30 seconds away from the underground and only 4 stops away from The La Ramblas ( Catalyania Plaza ). Overall impression is really not bad but very expensive! Maybe because of the World Mobile Congress last week.

Good value luxury hotel close to public transport.

Luxury at a budget price. Very clean hotel, Attractive, good size room.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Guillermo Tell Hotel. The room was large and comfortable and very clean with crisp linen. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us when we booked some tourist tickets online and needed to print them. They were also happy to look after luggage on the day we left so we could go shopping before leaving for the airport. The breakfast buffet was nice, with a selction of cold and hot choices. The only surprise was the 3 euro charge a day for the in room safe but not too extortionate and seemed very secure. Great location, in a quieter area of central Barcelona, only a hundred metres from the nearest tube to central Barcelona. ( 3 stops)

Convenient spot in a nice area of Barcelona

The hotel was only 1 minute walk from the metro. The room was basic but clean and a nice size bathroom. Nice cafe's nearby.
