About Polwaththa Eco Lodges

Description

Polwaththa Eco Lodges is run by a family with strong ties with the village and the villagers themselves. Truly sustainable tourism is practiced here where solar power is widely used, rain water is harvested, almost all employees are selected from the village, and all guests are encouraged to plant a tree before leaving. The lodges are clean and offer a magnificent view from the spacious balconies. The facilities exceed the expectation of an eco-lodge as there are tea/coffee-making facilities and hot/cold water in taps while most lodges have a room telephone and a safety deposit box. The space between the lodges is large and provides ample privacy and freedom to guests. The whole lodge is dressed in nature - green all around, making it a haven for birds and wild animals along with the owner's dogs, cats, and chickens for those who love pets. There are seven eco-lodges, a dormitory, and a camping site. Traditional cooking methods are used, and the rice and curry is probably the best in Sri Lanka. A demonstration kitchen provides you the opportunity to cook yourself. The entire staff is friendly, eager to help, and makes you feel at home. Being 700 meters above sea level and covered with trees, Polwaththa Eco Lodges boasts a perfect climate, leaving out the need for air conditioning. There are plenty of opportunities for cultural interaction with the community with the village walk and river bath conducted by local villagers being the best.

Would suit the no frills back to nature person.the knowledge of the guide regarding flora and fauna was exceptional. If you like wildlife a definite must. Food good. Mattress bad.

Quiet, authentic stay
For the second time we stayed at Polwaththa Eco Lodges. The place is beautiful and the staff is very helpful. The lodges are basic as it must be in an eco lodge but very functional, and the views are great on the Victoria reservoir. We went to a waterfall with an in-house guide and he has been very kind and helpful (especially against the leaches;-). The food is so tasty and the restaurant has lots of charm, so does the reading corner with hamac too. A better children policy would be a plus.

Chilling place
Nice people- silent an cool place to relax and have some nice walks around this hidden place.
We really relaxed there and had nice walks around . We found a nice walk through the jungle and met an impressive waterfall where we could swim in and cool down before explore more! It's and lovely place with chilling areas and free wifi ! And the best ecological coffee we could get! It's not that cheap but worth to stay for a couple of days!!!

The lodges are great allowing tp be amongst nature and the wildlife! The trekking - arranged with competent guides was great! And the food family based, good variety and wholesome. Don't expect too much
Quite, fresh air, fresh air
For the price you pay don't expect AC, ceiling fan, electric kettle, fridge and poor lighting. Torches which you need to get to the restaurant safely are rechargeable but you cannot recharge in the room. No housekeeping, walks are average thru villages. Foods good and service was great. Nice peaceful place and the staff try there upmost but 1 night is enough.

A getaway at the wilderness
Food, Friendly staff, beautiful nearby sightseeing places
We had a good time! The best part about staying in the eco lodge is that it's nearby to a lot of places and fun filled activities especially if you love nature.
