Guest House Description
Polwaththa Eco Lodges is run by a family with strong ties with the village and the villagers themselves....see more Polwaththa Eco Lodges is run by a family with strong ties with the village and the villagers themselves. Truly sustainable tourism is practiced here where solar power is widely used, rain water is harvested, almost all employees are selected from the village, and all guests are encouraged to plant a tree before leaving. The lodges are clean and offer a magnificent view from the spacious balconies. The facilities exceed the expectation of an eco-lodge as there are tea/coffee-making facilities and hot/cold water in taps while most lodges have a room telephone and a safety deposit box. The space between the lodges is large and provides ample privacy and freedom to guests. The whole lodge is dressed in nature - green all around, making it a haven for birds and wild animals along with the owner's dogs, cats, and chickens for those who love pets. There are seven eco-lodges, a dormitory, and a camping site. Traditional cooking methods are used, and the rice and curry is probably the best in Sri Lanka. A demonstration kitchen provides you the opportunity to cook yourself. The entire staff is friendly, eager to help, and makes you feel at home. Being 700 meters above sea level and covered with trees, Polwaththa Eco Lodges boasts a perfect climate, leaving out the need for air conditioning. There are plenty of opportunities for cultural interaction with the community with the village walk and river bath conducted by local villagers being the best.

Nature nature nature!

The location amongst the forest, the lodged are fantastic, the wildlife and treks are such a beautiful experience!
The eco lodge experience was everything we hoped for and more. The location fantastic, staff brilliant and the comfort above what we were expecting! The lodges are great allowing tp be amongst nature and the wildlife! The trekking - arranged with competent guides was great! And the food family based, good variety and wholesome. We had a brilliant time and hope to go back!

Don't expect too much

Quite, fresh air, fresh air
For the price you pay don't expect AC, ceiling fan, electric kettle, fridge and poor lighting. Torches which you need to get to the restaurant safely are rechargeable but you cannot recharge in the room. No housekeeping, walks are average thru villages. Foods good and service was great. Nice peaceful place and the staff try there upmost but 1 night is enough.

A getaway at the wilderness

Food, Friendly staff, beautiful nearby sightseeing places
We had a good time! The best part about staying in the eco lodge is that it's nearby to a lot of places and fun filled activities especially if you love nature.

Great Experience

The location, Staff and Cleanliness
We arrived there in the middle of the night but was still met with wide friendly smiles and dinner was served immidiately which was very welcoming. Great rooms, great food and lovely and helpful staff where nothing you asked for was ever too much. Great value for money and a brilliant thing to experience with young children

Lovely, untouched spot for nature lovers

View, nature, ecological concept
It was very nice; the staff is especially friendly and helpful. The impact on the environment is minimised... it takes 45 minutes to get a hot shower - first the water must be heated by a wood fire. We had the most delicious eggplants ever... a pure dream! They also have plenty of board games in the dinning hut and even taught our sons how to play carom. Definitely worth it - not to mention the amazing view on the lake...

In the heart of Kandy's natural surroundings

Service, Nature, Secludedness
Wonderful people who take their hospitality seriously. We enjoyed the night there and wished we had more time to do the treks, which must be spectacular.
