Stay by the Chao Phraya River
Once the residence of a major figure in the old days, this hotel is one of the more unique/charming hotels in Bangkok. The fact that it's only accessible by boat is both a plus and a minus. If you are tired of run-off-the-mill hotels, you may want to give this hotel a try.

Get location But...
Great location, Boat staff brilliant
A pleasant stay was had. The location is great and the building is lovely (however ground floor area around the garden could do with a lick of paint.) The pool beds were old/rickety and dirty or marked. The Pool bar was closed. Had to go into formal dining room to get a drink to take back to pool and no pool snacks available. We never ate in the dining room of an evening so can't comment on the standard however breakfast was nice. Rather pleasant to get a menu instead of the usual buffet arrangement. The bedroom small. So much so that we kept banging our shins on the edge of the bed base. Bathroom outdated with grey (supposed to be white) towels and fraying bathmats. Rather tricky steps into the bathroom. Creaky bed so everytime one turned over it woke the other! Also our fellow guests (above us) once out of their bed could also be heard. The little courtyard alongside our bedroom had broken decking and three huge tubs covered in old table cloths - very unsightly. (Avoid room 125) There is little english spoken in the dining room but that is something one expects and am not criticising. The office staff and boat staff need a mention. They were very attentive and helpful. You are given a mobile phone on arrival and you call up the hotel when you need collecting from Pier 13 and they come across the river to collect you - 24 hour service! With an historical building like this one doesnt expect all the mod cons -its colonial but with little cost and some real TLC this could become a real Gem. Would I go again? No.

Elegant and gracious
Return visit even better than I remembered. Facilities are quite nice, the staff is helpful and the shuttle boat is ever at guests' disposal.

Nice environment. But avoid staying at 1st floor!
Nice staff. Nice environment. Quite.
I stayed at the 1st floor, Room 122. The noise of the foot steps from the 2nd floor is really unacceptable -- besides sounds of steps, the hanging lamp keep shaking and give a noisy sound whenever there are people walking on the 2nd floor. I couldn't sleep at all since the guests of 2nd floor get up at 5:45am. I told the staff but they couldn't help at all. So, remember to ask for room at 2nd floor!

Colonial style vacation
location, privacy, staff
24 hours shuttle boat available anytime takes you to this colonial building with only 17 guest rooms. Recommend for couples looking for a romantic getaway with good access to Khaosan road and to explore the city from here.

Nice Hotel which cross river, that' why interesting
Incredible good sevice, specialty the boat pick up 24hurs, and staff helpful. Historic property.
Very excited, good experience. First is the boat service "fulfilling in 24 hours", bring much feeling. Staff gives you a mobilephone for contect them and pick up. The atmosphere of uniqueness, nature, quietness and the five-star bed and pillows, glad in Thailand! The building is historical, designed make comfortable. The pool area bit small and garden also, if you want stay in hotel time it's abit boring. Hotel doesn't have massage service.

a nice boutique hotel on Chao Phraya river
heritage building , location, garden
The hotel is nice but with limited facilities. You can stay there for a quiet rest but nothing much to do. The hotel lacks certain facilities that make it more pleasant. Not a hotel that I would consider going back. The staff are very helpful and the boat shuttle service is great.
