Ok but old building
Good pool
i have stayed at the prince on many occasions but i keep coming back. the staff are graceful, kind and helpful without being haughty. in fact they are just charming. service does not come this good (in my book) anywhere else in bangkok. the rooms are extremely comfortable. the mattress is firm but not hard which is the way i like it. but if you wanted a special type of mattress i am sure that the hotel would assist you. there is some traditional room furniture and a good writing desk. rooms are well kitted out with the latest music systems. the bathrooms are just so luxurious. but what i like most is the 24 butler on every floor who is there should you need any assistance. i don’t like to leave the hotel when i stay. you have a fabulous choice of restaurants to suite all tastes, from wonderful fine french dining to classic thai fare and there is an excellent italian restaurant too. oh yes i nearly forget the verandah where you can eat most cuisine and watch river traffic glide by on chao phraya. oh yes i nearly forget lord jim’s. now this is really the place for a sumptuous buffet lunch. many thais eat here which tells you something.

Would not recommend this hotel
Some interesting function rooms and pool area
Parts of the hotel, eg function rooms, were very glamorous and the area around the pool was nice but overall our experience was disappointing. Some of the lamps in the room did not work and the lampshades were full of holes. Compared to other city centre hotels that we visited the quality of the hotel food and beverages was poor and the prices were higher. Staff customer service generally was very variable. One concierge was very helpful and gave us good local information. Another used our ignorance of transport prices to recommend the hotel taxi as best means of transport to our next destination and we paid 2,500 TB for a journey that we later discovered cost 1,000 TB. As a visitor to Bangkok the hotel was very impersonal. Our next 3 accommodations were in complete contrast to this for welcome and visitor support.

Family suite
A bit hard to get to during the day traffic- wise as the market is nearby. At night, no problem.
Takes for ever to get to the hotel during the day. Ten s of traffic. At night it's better. The hotel charges exorbitant rates for Internet use beware! They say they have wifi but its super expensive to use.

Great location, friendly staff
Location, deliscuous breakfast, helpful staff, shopping close,
This is our 3rd time staying here. We love it. It's a huge and ornate hotel, lots of character. The rooms sometimes show their age, but are always comfortable and clean. It is literally on top of a large shopping mall for wholesale goods - some of the best prices. The pools are fantastic, always a little cool and refreshing.

Large hotel, lots to offer but very expensive
Bed was comfortable and pool and pool area was nice
although we paid reasonable price for room as offer on - everything else in the hotel was very expensive, with a beer being at least 3 times more than in a bar outside the hotel. i was also surprised that there was no free internet or wifi and it cost 100 baht per 15 min to use the internet. most bars in bangkok offereed free wifi. i thought the location was ok althought there was not much to do or not many bars or cafes located directly within the hotel area. however taxis were cheap to get around i found teh rooms very dingy and lighting poor, which was all located from a central consulat teh bedside but did not fully work. generally the staff were helpful but as hotel so large did not have personal touch

Needs a revamp in first tower old!
Lots of shopping stalls in the streets around
We have stayed before but in the newer tower. No one was helpful with our luggage (my husband had hurt his leg and I wear a leg brace. They should fire the rotund little guy who stands around the front of the hotel, most unhelpful and lazy. We have noticed him when we have stayed before. Girls at booking counter very helpful. Would never stay again.

Good location
Quite a old setting hotel but kind of pricey for the standard.
