grand hotel but wholesale area

economical package yet luxurious
6.7
it was good. though there is only one hitch that the area is pure commercial. if someone is just there to enjoy the hotel then it is a big grand royal hotel. otherwise you have to take a taxi or ferry for other areas.
Restaurant Tip: muslim pakistani food is not available in the area. you can only find good pakistani/ indian halaal food in 'nana' area which is about 15 minutes away by taxi for 70 to 100 bhaat.

Fine hotel above a very very busy district

The hotel is clean, food is sufficiently varied, service is polite and friendly

a good hotel; agoda's help made it affordable. it is vast and the traveller should be ready for that. it consists of high towers with the reception on floor 11 of one of them. downstairs, outside and underneath the hotel, is a thronging market, busy, noisy and alive. the height of the hotel removes the guests for this, but it is there all the time and guests could be forewarned of this.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: This hotel is ideally suited for trips on the canal (klong)taxis (the Klongs are canals used by residents for public transport/ They are cheap, exciting - even just for the ride which is what I use them for, but with a bit of simple guidance from the hotel, could be a selling point. E.g. the Golden Mount is only one stop away on the canal and tourists can catch a glimpse of non-hotel Bangkok life in the houses, some well off, many much less so, on the banks of the klongs.

The hotel and room were great. The pool area was nice and the pool had different levels that suited little kids nicely.

Not bad location, great service

spacious in the 2 bedroom suite, hotel looks really nice, even if it is a bit old. Breakfast is wonderful and lots of fun clothes shopping.
9.3
there were three of us in a 2 bedroom suite and it was a great size, we weren't on top of each other. the location is good if you don't mind being a bit out of the main city area and if you like a bit of wholesale clothes shopping. the pool was a bit on the chilly side but it was nice to sit around and enjoy the pool cafe. the breakfast banquet in the morning was the best bit, loads of options and really tasty.
Restaurant Tip: Not a lot of restaurants around close by and beware of tuk tuk drivers who get paid to take tourists to their expensive seafood restaurant...we got caught there..

In the Heart of Bangkok

Breakfast had lots of variety, friendly hotel staff, lots of amenities

When arriving at Prince Palace Hotel you are met with a picturesque lobby, and the hotel is HUGE. Roof top pool was excellent. Breakfast had huge selection of different cuisines. All amenities were within walking distance or short taxi or tuk tuk away. Rooms require upgrading in "B" Tower, however were comfortable and large.

price

A very good hotel to at, although there are not many places to go around unless you get a taxi. The hotel is huge, in term of price the value is there.

stayable

tour service trying to rip u off
5.7
the room is ok, nice view frm window below is a wholesale market, alot of clothes, ppl start selling frm 2-3 am in the morning, very cheap, i hear there is boat service to travel around but never got chance to try it. going to a city will cost u a hundred baht using taxi. the hotel toilet design is a prob. shower is one with bathtub. after a bath toilet floor will be wet and its poor drainage design couse the water to stay there. gotta wait for a room service.
Hotel Feature Tip: never trust this hotel tour service, ask for the full details of the cost before u agree. the pakage we were given does not include the show ticket price. we (2 Persons) end up spending more than 7000 bath that day for a lousy trip. total rip off !

A large, impersonal hotel.

The views from this multi storey building, over Bangkok were spectacular and the room features such as lighting, and bed comfort were of a good standard, although the decor was a bit dated.
5
for a hotel with a four star rating, we felt this hotel was not good value for money, mainly because it was so large and impersonal,we felt more like part of a business than welcome guests. it was very disappointing to find that you had to pay for wi fi, the only hotel on our six week holiday in sth e. asia where this was the case (and this was the most expensive of our trip!) just not good enough. breakfast was a buffet with a good choice of dishes. however, we felt like school children when an incessant bell was rung by a staff member as they marched up and down the restaurant, holding a sign announcing that breakfast will finish soon! surely a quiet clearing away of dishes at 10 am would be far more appropriate and sensitive for paying guests. location was another issue for us. although we felt safe wandering around the neighbourhood, it was in a less than desirable area, made up mostly of street markets and the hustle and bustle of local commerce with no eating places nearby, a real problem considering the over inflated prices of the hotel food.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: don't get talked into a tour of the city by a 'helpful information officer' at the airport. check they are not part of a tour company before getting talked into signing up for a sightseeing trip you may not need. it cost us thirty five dollars for an uninformative guided tour of the royal palace, when we could have done this just as easily on our own.(we still had to pay the admission fee)
