Large hotel in Bangkok ,staff ok but not alot of useful information about local area seem to be geared towards packaged tours.Non smoking room smelt of smoke and hard to get rid off smell as no windows could be opened.Had to share room with cockroaches. As part of things to do in location the local cheap clothes market, only thing your not told is most stores only sell to wholesalers. No restaurants in walking distance only street stalls so have to get a taxi everywhere if they can be bothered to take you ( we had to ask 3 taxis just to take us to Grand Palace)
Travel tip: Not in walking distance of anything so be prepared to take taxis everywhere

Comfortable hotel, well sited for the old areas

crisp white sheets, two pools, massive and luxuriousl foyers & receptions
7.7
This hotel was just what we needed - crisp white sheets - lots of home comforts, nice showers, lots of room, nice decor. Fantastic views over Bangkok from the 19th floor suite, great swimming pools - one from swimming and one for leisure. Breakfast was a bit odd as the hotel was so big and catered for so many nationalities - so there was lots of choice. The room was well maintained and clean. Good aircon. Reception was very busy but efficient. The room was a godsend at teh end of a month trip with variable accommodation (including rustic huts) and so we indulged in clean sheets and air con. The hotel was well sited and close to the major old attractions - you still needed a taxi or tuk tukm, but it was not far to major attractions. The bottom of the hotel block is a vast garment market (wholesale but didn't mind us buying single items). you could buy any clothing item there very cheaply and it was fascinating.
Hotel Feature Tip: Make sure you visit the top floors restauraunts - not to eat (expensive)but just to see the view. The swimming pool is a bit shady and sometimes windy but a pleasure to swim in. Warning to parents of small children. The windows of the 19th floor rooms could open wide (no restrictors) and so you had to be careful who slept where so the wee ones did not sleep in a room with accessible windows. We had spare beds and so could choose, but it could be amajor concern if you have little children or sleepwalking oder ones.

Great location and value for money

Pool bar and view and location and customer service
8.7
A lovely hotel with excellent custormer service and friendly staff. The breakfast is pleasant and plentiful with good coffee. The room is of a decent size but with a cool shower!!! otherwise great overall value for money and the location is perfect to visit the old city temples and river boat cruises. Enjoy your stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Take the water bus on the canal adjacent to the hotel for a cheap ride into the temples and old city

nice rooms but horrible service

Be warned if you want to be ripped off this is the place to come, When you ask how much breakfast will be and you get told 225 baht then expect a bill for 300 baht. Never get a cab out the front, guest services have a little thing going on with the cabbies to charge at least 300% more than you would pay if you got a metered cab. They will also lie directly to your face if it means they can make some extra money from you. Also when you are paying reasonable amounts for a room I expect free or at least cheap internet access. 100 baht for 10 mins is ridiculous!!!

Great view of palace but hotel a little old

The breakfast was a little disappointing. IT would have been nice if they had bacon and an omelet station. Those two things would of made the breakfast better. The room was big enough and the cost good, a far walk to get to room.
Travel tip: Ask for the view of the temple.

Not recommend

Cockroach in the room, hair in the toilet

We can't recommend this hotel. It's not value for money. The pool is ok, the breakfast is ok, but the hotel is old and it's not like it looks on the pictures. We ordered the hotel suit, but the deluxe room was better and cheaper. The staff was arrogant and I can't find my self satisfied with the price we paid compared to what we experienced. Sadly it's a low cost hotel to us, but you will have to pay much for stay there

Horrible customer service but great facilities

pool area and nice room

The actual hotel is great, nice rooms and the pool area is amazing. Unfortunately the whole place needs a new management and staff (not the housekeeping or lower paid staff, had no problem with them) but especially the guest services staff. They try and rip you off so much. They lie to you directly and tell you things cost more than they do. For example do not get a taxi anywhere to patpong, siam, koh saom road or anywhere within 5km for more than a 100 baht. They will try and get 600 baht if you get one out the front (guest services not the taxi man). Also i asked about a thai massage for 1 hour it costs 1200 baht at hotel and i asked if there were any nearby (which there are) and was told that they cost 1000 baht. They cost 200-300 baht if you can be bothered getting out of the hotel, you will save yourself a lot of money. Again at breakfast I asked how much the buffet was, got told 225 baht. I then get a bill for 300 baht and the buffet was pretty horrible. They had spam instead of ham or bacon. Frankfurts instead of sausage and no grilled tomato. They only nice thing about buffet was they made you an omelette if you asked
