Great hotel to stay in Laoag.
staff, location, room size, design, food

Balay de Blas could easily be your home away from home in Ilocos. We stayed in Balay de Blas I's Deluxe Suite for 2 days. We were surprised when we saw the 'room' because it was more like a small house. It has one bedroom, living room, bathroom, dining area and kitchen. Inspite of the heat, the room is surprisingly cool.
Their staff was very accommodating. It was so hot when we arrived and I was not feeling well when we arrived. Using a plastic to hold my vomit was futile and I managed to get some of it on the sheets but they replaced it as soon as I was able to get up.
Food was great. They also own Saramsam, which is one of the best restaurant in Laoag. So don't be surprised if you find that the hotel's menu is the same as the one in Saramsam. They are actually going to move the restaurant beside Balay De Blas II.
We had to extend our stay and we were transferred to Balay de Blas II. The room is big and clean but there was no refrigerator.
PRO/S:
There are a lot of tricycles in the area and there's a 24 hour convenient store on the corner of P. Gomez and Gen Segundo Avenue.
CON/S:
Parking - Limited slots available.
Bidet - None.
Toothbrush kit - NA

Home away from home!
Clean, friendly staff, quiet neighborhood
8,3
Balay de Blas was a surprise to us! The friendly reception made us feel like we were old acquaintances. The quiet atmosphere and homey feeling is a plus to weary tourists. This was the end of our two month tour of the Philippines and it was pleasant to find such an accommodating hotel. Hope they have room for us when we return next year!

Great Hotel and service to match
Great location, extremely friendly staff, good food, clean rooms, hot and cold shower.

I had a problem with being able to sleep in my room from the noise coming for the neighbors behind the hotel and the staff was awesome and moved me without hesitation. From that point own I was able to sleep without any problems. Excellent hotel and staff I can not say anything negative about it. I would most definitely not hesitate to stay here again...

Friendly pension with well-appointed rooms
Room size as exceptional and the service excellent.
9,3
we stayed for three nights at balay da blas and were quite satisfied with the service, location and room size. the hotel is away from downtown and the traffic of laoag city center, but the walk to attractions is only 15 minutes. the hotel was efficient in arranging a couple of full day, private tours for us, and all charges were consolidated on one bill. there is free wifi access, although as in most of the philippines the bandwidth is constrained, but we were able to handle e-mail and flight check-ins. since the property was patterned after a mexican hacienda, the eating area is a lovely patio in the courtyard. we would definitely stay here on future ilocos norte trips.
Dica de visita turística/atracções:
Definitely walk (or take a tricycle) to the main square and visit the Ilocos Norte Museum (next to the provincial headquarters.) This is quite well organized and has great depictions of life in the province. Also check out the weaving available in the gift shop - we brought a lot home with us.

the pension house is located centrally in laoag so it's a nice way to see both ends of ilocos. booked a junior suite and got an upgrade to the executive suite. it was clean, with dining and living area and kitchenette. it was simple but enough for our needs. breakfast wasn't part of what we booked in the hotel but you can choose what you want for breakfast at very affordable prices. you can also have meals from their restaurant, the popular saramsam, delivered to the pension house and you can eat your lunch or dinner at the lovely garden area. all in all, we enjoyed our stay and will gladly book here again on our next visit.
