Beautiful Taoranting Park, a few minutes’ walk away, provides a leafy respite from the hectic city. The Temple of Heaven is within walking distance, and so too is the famed Liulichang Cultural Street. Tiananmen Square is three kilometers away. Excellent Staff

Good staff, nice location,
We arrived at 8am and one of the receptionists, Li Na, was absolutely helpful. We came at 8 am and asked if there is any room available, she said yes and put us straight away. Also after overnight flight, we asked whether we can move the breakfast on our check out day (since we are leaving at 5 am) to the arrival date and Li Na did not hesitate to give us the breakfast. On the same day, we needed to get an inter city train ticket. Since we can't speak mandarin, there is a young floor manager on duty that walked us to nearby train locket and helped us to purchase the tickets we needed. Without his help, it would be difficult for us to get what we wanted. Room is reasonable. Bathroom needs upgrade. Breakfast food, would be average. I've seen better breakfast food but I've also eaten breakfast from a hotel that is much worse for a 4 star hotel. Overall, good place to stay.

Above average hotel

Near to eating places and shops, English spoken, reasonable massage
I arrived at hotel around 2 am; the 1 receptionist on duty appeared irritable. My standard room located in the old wing was spacious but really showed its age with worn out carpet, bathroom tiles were stained and the shower curtain has the mouldy smell.

Good value for money

Nice comfortable room, free Peking opera and close to sightseeing location
The room was not fantastic, but nice and comfortable enough. It's very good value for money considering the price. Also, the hotel staff were nice enough to offer me a free Peking opera ticket (theatre is conveniently located within the hotel), which was a nice surprise. The hotel is also located fairly close to the Liulichang (an area showcasing paintings, antiques etc) which is an interesting area. Walking further along the hutongs, one will arrive at the Daishilan area, which is also extremely interesting for tourists.

Too Brief to really be of value.

Friendly staff, clean and rooms were lovely.
I stayed at this hotel so briefly it is not possible to pass judgment. however, it was very pleasant night , quiet, clean and a grand room. the foyer area does not really reflect the quality of the rooms. PLEASE ADJUST THIS QUESTIONNAIRE FOR ALLOWING FOR NON EATING OTHERWISE ITS A LIE

Fantastic Tourist Hotel

The Qianmen is all about service!
When I checked into the Qianmen, my room was not ready. The hotel upgraded my room, escorted me to the new accommodations, and provided me with complimentary tickets to the opera. If you wish to stay in a secure, friendly, hotel, the Quianmen Jianguo is the hotel for you!

Absolutely no reason to choose this hotel

There is nothing positive to write
When I finally arrived at this hotel (it seems that taxi drivers in Beijing have no idea where it is), I discovered that I booked the wrong hotel (I was supposed to book the Jianguo Hotel that is closer to the World Trade Center). This hotel refused to let me cancel my booking and check out the next day. The hotel is not a walking distance to anywhere, the nearest subway station is 15 minutes away, and as I mentioned, taxi drivers have difficulty finding it (even with the address written in Chinese). Service is awful, English is not well spoken by the staff, and the worst was when one rainy night at 4 a.m., water started coming down the ceiling in my room. I was given a key to a different room, and was left alone to pack and move all my bags (at 4 am!), without even hearing an apology or anything about compensation. Do not stay at this hotel!

Great location, great standard for the money.

Location, excellent breakfast, nice comfortable rooms with all amenities. Good local restaurants closely around.
Great location. Nice spacy rooms and bathrooms with all needed amenities. Breakfast is excellent, both Chinese and Western food. Friendly staff speaks English sufficiently.

The Peking Opera Hotel

Well located close to ATM, local restaurants and bakeries, and very comfortable rooms with your own kettle!
The Jianguo Qianmen Hotel is a great place to stay in Beijing. Try to get a room rate price that includes breakfast, which could well be the best value meal of the day. Rather than eat at the over-priced restaurant, try the small street corner restaurant that is some 5oo metres from the hotel on the same side of the road - turn left as you exit the foyer. Spend the money to see the Peking Opera. The singing might be unusual, but it is a part of Chinese history, and the acrobatics that are included are spectacular. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and the decor of the hotel is well worth a photo. A great place to stay in Beijing.

Better than Expected
Location is not anywhere central to nightlife or shops, so you will spend more time in traffic trying to get anywhere.
