Bad experience

Location, kitchen and water, big sized rooms
5.3
Probably it was an incidental, but I had a bad experience. Compare to other budget options around this place is relatively expensive. We stayed in other two guesthouses in that area for a half of the price and with better conditions. First of all the room was on fourth floor, without elevator, at the first day I discovered that room phone is broken, but they changed it on our third day there (so imagine with any problem\question you need to go down and up 4 floors!). On second day the sink stopped draining, again got fixed only the day after. But, the worst part: I got bitten by ants that were in the room (not in huge quantity, but enough for few of them to cause me pain). Wifi got down at least twice a day - need to call reception and ask them to restart... So, again, maybe it was just a bad luck, and my experience was bad, but actually this hotel looks quite clean and they have communal kitchen, free water refill, fresh daily newspapers...

Exactly what I was looking for

congenial atmosphere, good low-priced food, helpful & friendly staff

The rooms are simple, nothing fancy but fine for the price. However, I stayed longer than anticipated because of the other guests. Lots of single, older folks (I fit right in) without any noisy party people or burned-out expats. The lady who runs the restaurant welcomes everybody, and her food is so good for the price that people from nearby guest houses often come for meals and stay to hang out. RCN is set up for you to do your own laundry or have them do it, make your own meals, bring your own beer or take-out, or eat in, rent a bike or grab a tuk-tuk on the corner. Yet it's close enough to walk to most places you want to be. You can negotiate a price for a week or a month. Warning: while I was there a VERY friendly French-Canadian woman was helpfully arranging tourist trips with her Kymer boyfriend taxi-driver. I didn't figure out their scheme until I noticed that everyplace we went, he got something for free. As long as you know the game, it's not a problem. Everything else was great.

Nice quiet place, a bit run down, but cheap

Large room, quiet location, great hot water
6.3
it's hard to go wrong. This place it tucked away in the north east corner close to the night food stalls, a couple of markets, some great little cafes and restaurants, and of course the jazz bar at the North Gate. It's a little run down for some, but for a short stay for independent travelers who don't need the comforts of more expensive hotels, it's a great little place.

english tv, quiet, good a/c, good staff

For the money, this place is near the top of my list. Free water, fridge, good stores nearby, laid back; yet secure. Nice people. No problems, at all.

Really enjoyed low season stay.

quiet, clean, good a/c-TV

Everything was good. Free water, free BKK Post in the lobby. Used the kitchen a little. Used the washing machine. Front desk was able to give good directions (in Thai) to a friend. Maid service was excellent. It's not The Hilton; but it's a great value for the price, and a great location to explore the Old City!

well cared for property

value, high speed internet, English TV
6.3
Nice kitchen, even if you just want to toast bread for sandwiches. Good coin washer. Too much in a backpacker ghetto for me, but I had a pleasant stay, and I do think the staff care a lot about their property. Agoda rates are significantly better than what they charge at the front desk. I can't recommend the laundry service on site, because the towels smell like they were bathing soi dogs with, but just do it yourself for 20 THB.

all around decent

room size, english channels, fast wi-fi

There are too many dirty backpackers in this area. Some were drying their circus pants in the otherwise very clean hallway. Management is always available.

Adequate and quiet guest house

Free hot and cold drinking water. Kitchen area for cooking own food. Value for money

Centrally located but in quite side street. Basic room but good size. Lots of foreigners living here permanently. Full kitchen facilities available for use. Looked after our bags for free while we went trekking for 3days. Internet available but slow.
